I just read a piece online about Cotton Hill, GA.  How can I get additional information and pictures of this town? Do you have a list of websites that you maintain with additional information? The surnames of my family were JACKSON, BOOTH, and GRANGER (All of whom I am told were notable and somewhat wealthy). Therefore, I would expect that they would have done some remarkable things. The census has them listed as Mulatto (instead of African American). Do you know of others that I could speak with that have family there or from there? Any additional information would be appreciated.

My mother's family were from Clay County. He maiden name was TORBERT. Her grandfather John Bibzier Torbert moved to Clay Co from Sumter Co in the 1850's. You will find a lot of TORBERT's buried at Wesley Chapel and in the Bluffton Cemetery. My mother taught school for several years at Cotton Hill School.

Also, my father and grandfather originally from Calhoun Co. both lived in Clay Co. My father lived for many years in Bluffton. My Grandfather Dr. Ben T. JOHNSON was buried in the Bluffton Cemetery in Jan. 1948.

James T. STRICKLAND married Emma MORRIS in 1874 in Clay County.
Emma MORRIS is the Great Grandmother of my Wife's Nephew and I have been trying to help him find his roots.
I have found James T. STRICKLAND's Family all the way back to 1790 and I will gladly furnish anyone this information that needs it or for your web page.
I have not been so lucky with Emma MORRIS's Family. I found two or three Emma MORRIS but they were the wrong age.
After Emma and James T. was married in 1874 they moved to Early County prior to 1880 and they show there in the 1900, 1910, 1920, and the 1930 census and I can furnish that to you.
I am totally up against a brick wall when it comes to Emma, course, I am getting all of my information from Ancestry.com and they don't have everything I have found out.
I am eighty two years old and have been waiting for the weather to warm up so I can make a trip to the Genealogy Library in Beaumont Texas.
If you can please help me to locate some of Emma's kin, I would be eternally greatful to you. She and J. T. had about thirteen Children, all listed in the Early Co. Census reports.

Thanks so much, Best Regards.

I went to school with a Paul TYE from Shortville. None of our class has heard from him in a long time, nor has he come to Class Reunions, but do understand that he is still living in or around Shortville, Al. Might do a search in Shortville or Abbeville, Al. for him. Good luck in your search.

My great great grandfather was Thomas Shaw. He married Rena Stafford on Dec 9, 1875 in Clay County, GA.

Thomas and Rena lived in Henry Co, AL. When living there, they had five children: James, Celia, Lillie, Emmitt and Thomas, Jr, my great grandfather. They moved to Clay County, GA between 1899-1900.

They were listed in the 1900 census for Clay Co. Thomas and Rena had one more child: Clovy (image hard to read). Thomas, SR died between 1902-1910. Rena died in 1933.

James married Lucy Woodard, Celia married Angus Stanley, Lillie marrried Lovett Cornelious, Emmitt married Ellener Stinson and Thomas, Jr married Hester Morgan. They were listed in the 1920 census for Clay Co, along with Celia, Emmitt and Thomas, Jr.

Lillie died in 1919. Emmitt and Thomas, Jr moved to Columbus, Franklin Co, OH between 1922-1925.

I have not been able to find any information on James and Lucy's marriage record.

WILSON

I have been researching for many years off and on for my Wilson line. A Valentine Wilson left Early County (1830 census) to Randolph County Ala (1840 Census) and then to Chickasaw County Ms.(1850, 1860 Choctaw County, Ms.). I am looking for any information on the Wilson Families of Early and Clay County. Specifically Solomon V. Wilson who lived in these counties?

Thanks
