Georgia Post, Knoxville, Crawford County, Georgia February 5, 1932
?50 Years and More? in Crawford County
By C. B. H. Moncrief (so original publication would have been in 1882)

The editor of this paper has a very very old family Bible, that has passed through at least three generations of the Patterson family from North Carolina who emigrated to Jones County, Georgia, probably about 1834. The Bible was printed in the year 1832 at Boston by the American Bible Society. The family records in the Bible are as follows: Lucy, Negro woman was born September 2, 1835. Big Amandy, Colored 1837 Little Amandy, February 6, 1846 Willie Patterson and Herndon was married January 9, 1800, in the state of North Carolina, Orange County. Joseph B. Patterson, the son of Willie Patterson and Elizabeth L. Lowe, the daughter of William Lowe, was married January 23, 1834, in Jones County, Georgia. Willie Patterson was born in October 15th, 1775. Ann Herndon, the wife of Willie Patterson, was born June 10, 1779. Joseph B. Patterson, the son of Willie Patterson, was born 29th of May, 1813. Elizabeth L. Patterson, daughter of William Lowe, was born 8th of April, 1816. All of Jones County, Georgia Presumingly, Joseph Patterson settled a long while before the War between the States on what is now known as the Patterson place. Also Webb. A. J. Spillers? place. Also might be known as the old Hunter place also Hunter place. The late Mrs. R. K. Webb was an heir of the Pattersons. Many heirs of the Lowe family reside here now. This Bible is in fair condition, however, some of the leaves have been lost out during its many years of faithful service, and many of its sweet passages have been read. We are sure this book has been in Crawford County 85 years or longer.

A big thanks goes out to Mona Lowe for submitting this information!
