They are in a wing of the Franklin County School Board building, located at
280 Busha Road near UPS. Call (706) 356 0565 for more information about
location and access to historical records. They
have the oldest courthouse books that have not been moved to the GA
Archives. Primarily they have the books for 1850-1900. They
have the books for the 1790-1850 period that were transcribed by the WPA
but not the originals. The original earliest books have been relocated
to the Georgia Archives in Morrow, Georgia. The Historical Society has
copies of the published books for Franklin County and many for those
counties that were formed from Franklin County. They do have family files
and books for some families who have remained in the county for many
years. They also have files on historic buildings, churches, cemeteries,
etc. Meetings are held bimonthly (January, March, May, July,
September, November) on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 2:00 p.m. at the
"Crow House" in Carnesville. This house is owned by the society and is
located directly behind the little Presbyterian Church. Copies of
"History of Franklin County, Georgia" is available and may be ordered
