Above: The second Steadman school, located 1/4 mile south of Steadman Baptist Church. (photographer unknown). On left is the country store which was still doing business in the 1950's. Note: This picture was made before gas tanks were installed at the store. Also note the horse and buggy in front of the schoolhouse. This was the second Steadman school. A portion of the first Steadman school still stands today and is located near the house behind the store. (Photos donated by C. Carter).

As a matter of information, schools were in session after the harvest season until planting time in the spring.
Schools restarted after the crops were laid-by, then closed again for harvest of the crops.
