The State of Georgia began
recording births in 1919. Birth Certificates are State Records and can be ordered
through the Georgia Department of Health
Vital Records
Division.
Note: At this time, Birth Records can only be issued to specific
individuals.
Death records contain similar information and can serve as a substitute for birth records
for people who were born before, and died after, 1919. |
Deaths were first
recorded Georgia in 1919. Death Certificates typically include the full name of the
decedent, date and place of birth and death, name and birthplace of both parents, and
other information such as occupation, military service, marital status and spouse's name.
Death Certificates can be ordered from the
GDH Vital
Records Division.
To find the death date or location for someone
who died in the 1960s or later, search the
Social Security Death Index. |
