The Cullen Thornton Cemetery

Located off Johnstonville Road, about .7 mile down log road. Across from Tingle's store.

This cemetery has been practically destroyed by a logging company. The photos were taken by Timothy T. Turner and submitted for inclusion on the Monroe County Web page.  Mary Dumas Smith was descended from Cullen Thornton.  She told Mr. Turner that Cullen Thornton and his wife,
Mary (Polly) Banks Thornton are buried there.

Mr. Turner also located another abandoned cemetery on Johnstonville Rd., back in the woods off a log road.  About 100 yards from the cemetery is an old home place. It is unknown as to who is buried there.
