McKettrick/McKittrick Family Reunion

Inviting McKittrick descendents and relatives of Benjamin McKittrick to Second Annual McKettrick Family Reunion Saturday, November 26, 2005 At Bryan Park, Crawford, Georgia

Descendents of Benjamin Franklin McKittrick and Minnie Lee Tullis invite relatives and interested people to join us at Bryan Park Clubhouse beginning at approximately 10 AM.  The generation following Ben changed the surname spelling to McKettrick.  We are descendents of Benjamin Franklin McKittrick and Minnie Lee Tullis of Lincoln Co, GA,  John M. McKittrick and Camilla A. V. Mitchell of SC & AR and Benjamin McKittrick and Lucretia Houston of Abbeville Co, SC.

Price of admittance is family history information linking to the McKittricks.  Bring simple food items, sandwiches, soup, cake, snacks, etc.  Coffee and iced tea will be furnished.

The recurring annual reunion day will be ‘the Saturday following Thanksgiving’ every year.

Bryan Park is located on Lakeshore Drive, one mile north of US 78.  At the traffic light in Crawford, turn on North Street.  Go approximately one mile to Lakeshore Drive.   Turn at the Bryan Park sign.  The clubhouse is on the left at the lake.

Chandler Family Association Reunion
Atlanta, GA, Friday-Saturday, September 9-10

Make your reservations now for the annual gathering of CFA members and friends. This year’s meeting will be held in Atlanta at the Marietta Holiday Inn, located off I-75 at Exit 261 (Delk Road), which is just north of I-285. The hotel has 193 rooms with 46 suites and is located just minutes from downtown Atlanta and Hartsfield International Airport. It has a full service restaurant, lounge and room service. For those families with children it is located close to White Water Theme Park and Six Flags over Georgia. It has a 24-hour exercise room, high-speed Internet service, and complimentary parking. The hotel is close to many other restaurants as well as Cumberland Mall, Cobb Galleria and Town Center Mall. The CFA reunion will take place in the Hotel Ballroom.  Reservations are to be made on an individual call-in basis by calling (770) 952-7581. To confirm reservations, one night’s pre-paid room is required or guaranteed by a major credit card.

The Hotel is comprised of kings (one bedded rooms) and doubles (two bedded rooms). Guestrooms will be assigned based on availability by Hotel’s reservation department. If a room type requested is not available, the next comparable room type will be reserved for the guest at the contracted group rate.

 The Hotel would be pleased to extend the group rate 2 days prior to the event and 2 days following the event based on availability.

All reservations must be received no later than 3:00 PM, 19-Aug-2005. After this time Hotel reserves the right to release the unsold portion of reserved rooms for general sale. Hotel will continue to accept reservations after the cut-off date, subject to availability at prevailing rates.

Go South on Hwy 17 to Cannon, about 8 miles. Turn left on Depot Street.

From Athens:

Take Hwy 29 north to Royston, Turn left on Hwy 17 north, approx. 4 miles.

Turn right in Cannon on Depot Street.


Once you are on Depot St. in Cannon go till you see the park on the left, which will be a white house

and old silo with a carousel painted on the side. There is a fenced in

Playground for the children to play.



Simmons Family Reunion

The descendents of Lemuel Paige "Lem" Simmons will host a family gathering on Sat. 11 June 2005 at Vineyard's Creek Baptist Church, 121 Cherokee Rd. Comer, Ga.  Lunch will be served at 1:00pm. "Lem" is said to have had 4 wives and 28-32 children. This is the tenth anniversary of this reunion. And we all enjoy discovering new relatives and friends of our anscestors who (many) lived in Elbert, Madison, Clark, Franklin, Hart, & Oglethorpe counties of Ga. Please note that for the past 9 yrs. this reunion has been held at Rehoboth Baptist Church, but is moving to Madison County in 2005 due to conflict with church schedules at Rehoboth.

Stewart Family Reunion

The annual reunion of descendants of Gus and Margaret Stewart will be on Sunday, August 25, 2002 at the Arnoldsville Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Serving will begin at 12:30pm.  All are asked to bring a covered dish.  Plates, utensils and ice will be furnished.  Also, descendants are asked to bring any family history information, pictures, etc.  And, there will be entertainment!  Several gospel groups will perform.  For more information, please contact Cheryl Stewart



The 214th anniversary of Cloud's Creek Baptist Church, Oglethorpe County, Georgia, will be  observed on Sunday, September 15, at 11:00 a.m. with a covered dish luncheon following the service.  It is suggested that we bring desserts, salads, cold meats, breads, etc., rather than foods that require heating.  If you are coming from a long distance, you may prefer to stop by a grocery store deli on your way to the church.

From Hwy 316 heading east toward Athens:
Go to JCT 10/78/29.  [As soon as you cross the Oconee Conncector, move to the
newly created far right lane, which will funnel you to the turn.] Turn right, and you are on the South Bypass around Athens (this is Loop 10). Proceed for 6 miles and Exit on Hwy 78/Bus 78/10. Turn right onto Hwy 78 East, which is called Oconee Street but immediately thereafter is called the Lexington Road.
Go 15.4 miles on Hwy 78 East through Crawford to just at the Lexington City Limits (but do not cross). Turn left onto Comer Road, which is Hwy 22. Go 5.9 miles north to Cloud's Creek Road (which is 3/10 mile beyond Devil's Pond Road) Turn left onto Cloud's Creek Road, which will be well marked. Church is 1.3 miles down Cloud's Creek Road
