Old Walker Cemetery

Old Walker Cemetery located 18 miles southeast of Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia.
4 miles east of Hephzibah, Richmond County, Georgia; about 1/2
mile south of Hephzibah - McBean Highway. 
Orginally the old Walker
Plantation, now owned by C. C. Henderson.  Cemetery enclosed by a rock
wall and iron gate, in very good condition but no care is takimg of the Cemetery; size of enclosure about 50 ft by 50 ft.
Several holes have
been dug close to the graves and the markers broken down.
This cemetery visited by Frank Bell and Morton L. Reese, on the afternoon of May 19, 1939.

1.  Sacred to the memory of Elizabeth Walker who departed this life 23rd
of March 1843.  In the 63rd year of her age.  The subject of this
inscription survived her affectionate companion nearly fourteen years.
Their happy spirits, now mingle together in an eternity of peace.
(Box Tomb; Marble Slab; Brick Sides; in Fair Condition.)

2.  This is erected to the memory of Elijah Walker, who died the 26th
day of April, 1829.  In the 49th year of his age.  He was an
affectionate husband, a tender parent, a kind master, and a benevolent
friend.  He was beloved in life, and is lamented in death.  This
monument is placed here by his bereaved widow. His mortal body here must
like, Till the loud summons from on hight shall bid it in new splendor
rise, To meet his Saviour in the skies.

Died 1809.  Aged 90 years.

5.  Rachael Walker.
Died feby 1835.  Aged 52
(Upright Sand Stone Slab; about 3 feet high, in bad condition)

6.  John D. Walker
Died in 1837
Aged 40 years.
(upright Sand Stone Slab; about 3 feet hight: in Bad condition).

7.  Benjamin Walker
Died feby
1834
Aged 31.
(Upright Sand Stone Slab; about 3 feet high; In bad condition).

9.  Infant
of A.C. and V. P. Walker
(Upright Sand Stone Slab; about 2 feet high; in bad condition).
