Mr. Will Stinson went to Junction City Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Stanton returned to their home in Newborn, Ga. Friday having spent a few days with Miss Missie McCrary.

Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Jones came out Friday to visit Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Jones.

Mrs. Clark Heath returned to her home in Paschal Friday having visited relatives here.

Miss Katy Belle Jones returned from Cusseta and Columbus Friday.

Mr. Jesse McCraney went to Columbus Friday.

Mr. Bat Ingram returned from Columbus Saturday.

Mr. S.C. Colquitt made a business trip to Columbus Saturday.

Mrs. W.T. Ricks returned to her home in Reynolds Saturday. Mrs. G.R. Edge accompanied her.

Miss Lee Jenkins, who has been visiting Miss Mae Covington, left Saturday for her home in Midland.

Miss Zoudie Bradshaw returned from Columbus Saturday.

Messrs. Frank Harris and Roland Benson from Juniper, were here Saturday on business.

Mr. Jim McFarland is at home again.

Mrs. Jim Clark and children returned to her home in Columbus Saturday, having spent the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. John Downs.

Mr. Drane Jenkins left Saturday for Auburn, Ala.

The Epworth League held its regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Lee Cook Friday night.

Miss Delia Barksdale went to Columbus Saturday.

Mrs. Morris went to Columbus Saturday, carrying her three little granddaughters, Misses Lillian Louise, Esther and Miriam Wade.

Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Colquitt went to Talbotton Monday on business.

Geneva, Ga., Jan. 15 - (Special)

Messrs. S.C. Colquitt, Henry Smith and Frank Smith went to Columbus Saturday.

Mr. Edgar Chalkley from Juniper was here a few days this week putting up a wire fence for Mr. J.J. Jones.

Mr. Walter Hearsom and children from Juniper, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Benson.

Messrs. Will and Hugh Smith from Talbotton were here Sunday to see friends.

Mr. Bat Ingram spent several days last week in Alabama.

Mrs. W.E. Johnson and Misses Grace and Clifford left Monday for their new home in Nashville.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Stenson have moved into the Melierchamn house. We are glad to have Mr. and Mrs. Stenson with us.

Mr. L.E. Colquitt has put a stock of goods in Mr. Jep Turner's store. The post office and express office is also in that building now.

Mr. R.L. McBryde and Mrs. L.B. Colquitt went to Talbotton Monday.

Mrs. Charley McLendon spent Tuesday and Wednesday with Mrs. R.L. McBryde.

Mrs. Frank Patterson has been quite sick this week.

Little Miss Rose Frances Brooks has been sick for several days.

The first quarterly meeting was held here Wednesday. Rev. T.R. Stanford preached two very fine sermons, which were very much appreciated by

 all who heard them.

Messrs. I.M. Posey and J.J. Youngblood from Juniper attended quarterly meeting here Wednesday.

Mr. Lou Bickley from Paschal attended services here Wednesday.

Mr. Clayton Allen from Box Springs was here Wednesday.

Mr. Belk from Juniper was here Wednesday.

Mr. Virgil Steel from Talbotton was here Wednesday.

Mr. McMillen from Ft. Valley was here on business this week.

Mr. Frank Patterson went to Box Springs Wednesday.

A great many people are suffering from severe colds. We have had a very hard winter.

Mr. Hayward was here Wednesday. He will move his family here in a short while from Columbus. They will occupy rooms with Mrs. Lee

 Johnson.

Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Jones returned to Columbus Tuesday.

Mr. C.T. McLendon visited Mr. and Mrs. R.L. McBryde Wednesday.

Talbotton Social Notes

Talbotton, Ga., Jan. 16 - (Special)

Mrs. Hamp Weston and daughter visited Oglethorpe recently.

Miss Marie Johnson has returned from Waycross.

Misses Mary and Eugenia Singleton of Savannah, have returned home after a few days stay with Miss Susie Leonard.

Mrs. Eva Kimbrough and Mrs. Robert Kimbrough have returned to Atlanta.

Mr. Kimbrough Ragland is at home for a few days from Atlanta.

Miss Eliza Jenkins of Box Springs and Mrs. W.A. Phillips of Upatoi will be here this week.

Mrs. C.P. Callaway and daughter will return to Tignall in a short time.

Mrs. T.F. Smith has returned from the bedside of her mother, Mrs. Jenkins of Box Springs, who is much improved.

Miss Marie Cartledge of Woodland is expected to visit relatives here this week.

Mr. Morris of Alabama spent Sunday here.

Miss Virginia Persons will visit New Orleans in a short while.

Mrs. Bishop has returned to Eastman.

Miss Florence of Columbus, spent a few days with relatives last week.

Miss Amelia George has returned from Columbus.

Mr. Frank Tigner spent Wednesday here.

Miss Ruth Martin has returned to her home in Columbus.

Mr. and Mrs. Moses Hollis have returned to their home in Texas.

Mrs. Joe Jameson returned Wednesday to her home in Port Arthur, Texas.

Mr. J.M. Heath spent a day in Atlanta last week.

Miss Susie Leonard has returned to her school in the valley.

Mr. S.C. Colquitt made a business trip to Talbotton this week.

Mr. Clinton Bradshaw came through Crawford, Ala. last week, bringing with him five mules for Dr. S.W. Brooks.

Mr. Edgar Chalkley from Juniper, was here on business last week.

Messrs. R.M. Philips and son, from Juniper were here last week.

Mr. Neil Ingram returned to his home in Meridian, Miss., having spent a few days pleasantly here with his brother, Mr. Fred Ingram.

Mr. J. J. Jones went to Columbus Friday.

Mr. Henry Benson and Miss Goldie Cook went to Paschal Friday.

Mr. Dana Favors returned from Columbus Sunday.

Mr. J.H. Smith from Box Springs, visited Mrs. Lee Cook Sunday.

Mr. Fred Ingram went over to Marvin, Ala., Sunday to see his father who is very low with pneumonia.

Capt. D.P. Posey was a pleasant visitor here Sunday.

Mr. McCraney from Columbus visiting Mr. Willie Favors.

Rev. R.A. Sowell and Mr. Clayton Sowell went to Talbotton Monday. Rev. Sowell was on his way to Hamilton to attend the Ministers Institute.

Mr. G.R. Edge went to Talbotton Monday.

Mrs. Frank Pye has been very sick this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Hayward came Monday from Columbus. They will make this their home in the future.

Mr. Henry Smith made a business trip to Talbotton Tuesday.

Mr. Hugh Smith from Talbotton was here Tuesday.

Every family in town has one or more members suffering from severe cold, quite a number being confined to their beds.

Misses Goldie and Gussie Cook will have with them the latter part of the week, Misses Gladys Turner from Macon and Maud Cook from

Cusseta.

Mr. J. J. Jones left Tuesday, this being his first trip on the road for 1910.

Mrs. Hamp Downs and children came out from Columbus Friday to visit Mr. and Mrs. John Downs.

Mr. and Mrs. G.R. Edge went to Reynolds Saturday to visit their daughter, Mrs. W.T. Ricks.

Misses Goldie and Gussie Cook have had as their guests this week Misses Gladys Turner, from Macon and Maud Cook, from Cusseta.

Mr. Hamp Downs came Saturday night to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Downs.

Mr. Bartow Miller, from Cusseta, was a visitor at Mrs. Lee Cook's on Sunday.

Mrs. Clinton Bradshaw came Saturday from Crawford, Ala., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bradshaw.

Mr. Walter Benson and little Miss Rena and Master Frank spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Benson.

Miss Mae Covington visited Mrs. Tim Malone in Talbotton Sunday.

Mrs. S.C. Colquitt and Master Sidney went to Atlanta Tuesday to visit her mother, Mrs. Susie Traylor.

Mr. Bat Ingram went to Columbus Tuesday.

Mr. Will Stinson spent a few days this week with his homefolks.

Miss Lucy Person returned from Columbus Sunday, having spent a few days very pleasantly there, the guest of Mrs. Milton Giddens.

Mrs. Will Turner returned from Talbotton Tuesday.

Mrs. Will Stinson entertained at dinner Tuesday, in honor of Miss Maud Cook of Cusseta.

Miss Eleanor Beatle is at home after a pleasant visit to Atlanta.

Mr. W.A. Baldwin and daughter, Miss Eunice, are visiting in Florida.

Miss Ella Robbins left Thursday for several months stay at Ocala, Fla.

Miss Eliza Jenkins of Box Springs spent last week with Mrs. J.A. Battle.

Mrs. T.F. Smith and daughter, Miss Imogene, are with Mrs. Lon Baldwin at McIntosh, Fla.

Miss Virginia Persons leaves next week for a visit to New Orleans.

Miss Ella Adair is at home after spending some time in West Point.

Mrs. J.A. Bryan was a recent visitor to Columbus.

Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Kennedy are spending the week in Macon.

Mrs. W.C. Hightower of Thomaston, Mrs. William Wooten of Thomaston, are the guests of Mrs. R. Leonard.

Mr. Kimbrough Ragland left Friday for Atlanta.

Miss Francis Lowe went to Box Springs Wednesday to spend several days.

A pleasant party from Talbot County now in Florida are: Messrs. Brown Matthews, Leonard Parker, John Parker, Edward Carter.

Miss Jennie Gibson is in Macon on a visit.

Miss Emily Heath returned from Griffin Tuesday.

Those on the sick list are Messrs. Person, Heath, C.C. Grant, Hugh D. Smith, W.B. Freeman.

Mr. W.J. Thornton spent Sunday in Opelika, Ala.

Mr. J. Lawrence Dozier, Jr. of Huntsville, Ala., spent several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Dozier.

Capt. D.P. Posey from Columbus, was with friends here Sunday.

Mr. H.W. Barksdale returned from Birmingham Friday.

Mr. R.F. Patterson went to Talbotton Friday.

Mr. S.C Colquitt made a business trip to Columbus Friday.

Mr. Henry Smith went to Columbus Saturday.

Mrs. Lilibell Bullock left Thursday to visit friends in Bullochville.

Rev. Sowell visited Juniper Thursday.

Mr. J.J. Jones and Rev. Sowell attended the burial of Mr. D.M. Posey in Columbus Saturday.

Mr. Sherwood Young, from Columbus, was a pleasant visitor here Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith and little son, Henry, from Box Springs, spent Saturday and Sunday with Mrs. Lee Cook.

Mr. M.B. Jones, from Americus, spent Saturday and Sunday with his parents, Mr. amd Mrs. J.J. Jones. Mrs. Jones returned home with him, she having been here on a visit sometime.

Mr. Dennis Scott, from Columbus, was a visitor here Sunday.

Mr. W.T. Ricks and son came up from Reynolds Sunday and spent the day with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Edge. Mrs. Ricks returned home with them.

Mr. Dana Favors visited Columbus Sunday.

Mrs. Williams, from Opelika, came Monday to visit Mr. Bat Ingram, her brother.

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Chalkley, from Juniper, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. S.C. Colquitt.

Mr. Alan Hillman returned to his home in Albany Monday night, having spent a week here the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Jones.

Mr. O.J. McCrary, from Thomasville, was here Monday, visiting his brother, Mr. I.A. McCrary.

Mr. Robt. Trussell, from Talbotton, was here Tuesday.

Mr. J. J. Jones went to Juniper Tuesday on business.

Miss Goldie Cook has been quite sick this week.

Mrs. Allan Hillman and little son Allan, Jr., left Tuesday for Columbus, where she will visit her sister, Mrs. Frank Harrison, before returning to her home in Albany.

Mr. McMillen was here Tuesday from Ft. Valley.

Mr. Frank Patterson went to Box Springs Wednesday.

Mr. J.A. Colquitt is able to be out again, but he is still very feeble.

Miss Katy Bell Jones will leave in a short while to visit Albany and Americus.

Mrs. A.W. Parker entertained the younger set Monday evening.

Mrs. Will McDaniel from The Rock, will visit Mrs. J.A. Colquitt this week.

Dr. C.M. Black, from Talbotton, was here Wednesday to see his aunt, Mrs. J.A. Colquitt.

Mrs. Mollie Miller is spending some time with Mrs. N.V. Alams.

Miss Jennie Gibson is visiting Upatoi.

Mrs. William Lennard returned from Macon Thursday.

Mr. W.J. Thornton spent last week at Opelika, Ala.

Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Bryan returned this week from Florida.

Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Baldwin went up to Atlanta Saturday to take their son, J.C. Baldwin for treatment for appendicitis.

Mr. T.T. Ragland leaves Monday for a trip to South Georgia.

Mr. Raiford Persons returned Monday from Athens.

Mr. H.D. Smith is now at Marion, S.C.

Miss Alice Grant leaves Friday for Columbus.

Miss Marie Johnson leaves at an early date for Atlanta.

Misses Sarah Robins and Miss Eleanor Beall visited Macon last week.

Mrs. W.B. Freeman is at home after a pleasant visit to Camilla, Ga.

Dr. J.B. Douglas was in Atlanta last week.

Mr. John Brooks of Columbus is shaking hands with friends this week.

 

 

20 May 1910- Mrs. Myra Posey assisted by Mrs. G. W. Posey and Virginia Posey, entertained in Juniper Friday in compliment to Misses

Bettie Worthen and Margaret Maddox. Guests enjoyed moonlight proms and then went inside to progressive table games.

Frank Jordan and Henry Persons attended Scout meeting in Macon and visited Robert Jordan, returning to Talbotton with Mrs. Lilly J. Persons.

Mr. Clifford Smith, severely injured by a falling scaffold in Thomaston a few weeks ago, is now mingling with Talbotton friends.

A picnic and dedication ceremony was given at Mahaffey's Mill in Juniper on May 29th. The program: Catch the greasy pig, dinner, dedication

of mill, swimming, baseball, boating and fishing.

Talbot County had the wettest Spring in 49 years. Maybe we can have plenty of good food this summer. Rainfall for Central Georgia averages

fifty one inches per year.
Tax: Mrs. R. J. Alsobrook and son Preston spent Sunday with Mr. Emmett Miller.

Baldwinville: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mallory spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ebb Cox. Mrs. Sarah Lumpkin is with the Clarence Lumpkins’.

Spinks Chapel: Mr. Crawford Royals and family spent Sunday with the B. F. Helms family. Mr. and Mrs. Will Beverly and family spent Sunday

with the Henry Butler, Sr. family. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Turner announce the birth of a daughter on May 15th.

Talbotton: Miss Annette Calhoun gave a pound party recently. Games were enjoyed by Misses Julia Calhoun, Annie Stinson and other friends.

The D. B. Searches', Mr. Sidney Baldwin, the Baker Baldwins, W. A. and S. B. Baldwin enjoyed an outing at Ficklin's Mill.

A special train on the AB&A RR called "The Hummer" will run from Fitzgerald through Talbotton to Atlanta daily.
