Justice of the Peace 1854 according to the History of Whitfield County

He was among the first settlers and lived one mile south of Trickum. He was a gunsmith and often engaged in shooting for beef and to make money. His sons were Starritt W, Jackson, Henry, and James Dobson.. He was born in N.C. 7 May 1787. Death 1918-1878 . He is buried in Dogwood Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Joseph and Starritt were the original settlers of the military district Armurchee East. He had Land lot no.169. He sold 80 acres (one half of it. Section 3, 27th district in1852 in Whitfield Co.

Will of Joseph Dobson
In the Name of God Amen

I, Joseph Dobson, of the County of Whitfield and the state of Georgia, being of sound and disposing mind and memory and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs while I have thought so to do, do make and publish this my last will and testament here by revoking all Wills by me at any time heretofore made. And First, I Commit My Soul to God who gave it, and My Body I desire to be buried in the Buring Ground north the Dogwood Baptist Church by the side of my beloved wife, and my worldly estate I dispose of as follows: First: I will and bequeath my half lot of land on which I now live, lot No. 169, 27th District and 3rd Section, in Whitfield County and State of Georgia, to be divided equally between three of my sons as follows (namely) Henry P. Dobson, James W. Dobson, Joseph G. Dobson. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Anny M., wife of G.W. Ransom, the sum of twenty dollars, which is to be paid, out of proceeds of the aforesaid lands, to her by the aforesaid Henry P., James W. and Joseph G. Dobson. Now in the absences of James W. Dobson, the twin Son, as named above, be not living. Now I will and bequeath the interest that I designed f or him the said James W. Dobson, both his Surviving Sons. (Viz.) Henry P and Joseph G. Dobson, equally between them by their paying Anny M Ransom the sum of twenty dollars as above. And I will and bequeath to my present wife Polly A. Dobson the following house hold and Kitchen furniture (namely) one side board and contents, and all the cooking utensils on the said premises, all the beds, bedding and bed furniture, all the standing corn, and potatoes, and wheat on said premises, and all the stock of both hogs and ______, with the exception of one red cow and ______. And be it know I Joseph Dobson hath this day appointed Joseph Rodgers Executor of my Will, in witness whereof I the said Joseph Dobson to this my will consisting of the foregoing sheets of paper, have set my hand and seal, this 7th day of August 1871.
