An excursion train wrecked. Two white men of crew killed when cars were overturned near Dalton.

The passengers were fearfully shaken up.

All carried to Dalton by special train sent to the scene of the accident, spreading of rails the cause.

Dalton GA, June 11

An excursion train bearing the Knights of Pythias from Calhoun, Georgia to Chattanooga Tennessee was wrecked two miles north of here and two persons Claud Holcomb, a white fireman, and Arthur Pilcher, a white section hand, were killed.  Several were dangerously injured.  The passengers were brought here as a special train went to the wreck scene from Dalton.

Spreading of rails is supposed to have caused the wreck, which occurred in a cut, and four cars were overturned.  While fearfully shaken up, none of the passengers were severely injured.
