W J Acree, lived in Georgia since 1845.  Enlisted March 1864, Company A, 11th GA Cavalry.  Was in military from March 1864 until

somewhere about Fayetteville SC April or May 1865.  Was at home on sick furlough when War ended.  Command was at Athens GA

 when he left it about the last of March 1865.  Left with the authority of Col Young for 30 days sick furlough.

 

Property currently owned two horses $100; two cows $50; 2 hogs $20; house and kitchen $25.  Bought 40 acres of land for $500, I owe $125 on it. 

Part was paid for by a little money intended by my wife.  Living at Whitfield County GA

Witness for W J Acree: W B Candell who has known him since about 1845. He belonged to same Company and Regiment.

Witness for W J Acree: B T Brady who knew him during service.

Witness for W J Acree: J C Allan, Banks County, who knew him during service until J C Allen was captured during battle of Waynesborough GA.

Witness for W J Acree: John R Chambers, Banks County.  Was sick with measles three weeks before surrender.

Widows Pension:

Mrs Margarette Acree, widow of W J Acree, Company A, 11th GA Calvary.

W J Acree died 23 June 1919, Whitfield County GA.

Margarette died 23 May 1928, Whitfield County GA.

W J and Margarette married Oct 1867

Cost for her undertaking/casket/hearse is a total of $160.00

Bill from her physician - J C Rollins MD $12.00

 

Military:

Enlisted at Mossy Creek, White County GA, May 2, 1864 with Capt Hubbard.  Age 17; 5'11-1/2" tall, fair complexion,

blue eyes, dark hair, farmer, born Banks County GA.
