William P Adair,

Co B, 4th Georgia Battalion Sharpshooters

William P Adair, Dalton. Living in Georgia since 1838.  Enlisted Apr 1861, Barnesville GA in Co B, 4th GA

Battalion Sharpshooters.  Served from enlistment until 26 Apr 1865.  He was at Greensboro NC when surrendered.

 

He has a life interest in 150 acres worth $1,200.  Household and kitchen for $50.00.

He sold his interest in land for $1,200 to Mrs Murphy for the purpose of living on the proceeds.  I has about $1,000 in notes, house and

kitchen furniture $250.00.

Has no income other than the interest on the note.  Signed 16 Sept 1910, Whitfield Co.

 

Witness: W P Holmes, Pike Co GA, has know W P Adair for 50 years. I have known him since I served in Army with him.  I was at home wounded on furlough

when the surrender came through.

 

Witness: J L Hunt, was present at the surrender of Johnson's Army at Greensboro NC and that W P Adair was present, surrendered on 26 Apr 1865.

J Bogle, Ordinary for Whitfield County sayd proptery does not appear on Whitfield digest as his home has been in Henry County until

recently.  He spent part of each year here.
