SYLVESTER — James Ernest Alderman, 42, of 963 SW 149th Way, Sunrise, FL, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at his residence. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Tempy Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until the funeral hour.

Andrews, Jim Henry Sr.
SYLVESTER — Jim Henry Andrews Sr., 66, of Albany died Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Grady Morey will officiate.
Born April 13, 1940, in Worth County to Grace Hobby Andrews and James Clovis Andrews, Mr. Andrews had lived in Worth and Dougherty Counties all of his life. He was the owner and operator of Kitty's Flea Market. He was a former farmer, who also operated Pap's Fried Chicken, Jim's Bar B Que and Seafood, The Magnolia restaurant and was in partnership with the operators of The Fireside restaurant. He also was the former owner of the Road Runner convenience store. He was a member of the Rocky Mt. Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, daughter, brothers, companion, and grandchildren. Other survivors include, the mother of their children, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hobby, Bobby Harold
SYLVESTER — Bobby Harold Hobby, 71, of Sylvester, died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Emory University Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Banks Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County. The Rev. Jerry Cooper and Jeff Hill officiating. Born in Worth County, GA, Mr. Hobby was the son of the late Jodie Hobby and Minnie Ola Farmer Hobby. He was retired from AT & T as a PBX Technician and worked with FEMA. He lived in Worth County all of his life and served in the United States Air Force. Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, three daughters and sons-in-law, a brother and sister-in-law, eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Mr. Hobby was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Hobby and one sister, Catherine Hobby.

Phillips, Spencer R. Jr.
SYLVESTER — Spencer R. "Randy" Phillips Jr., 71, of 3745 Sunny Hill Drive, Loganville, GA, died Friday, October 6, 2006 at Parkwood Living Center in Snellville. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today (Sunday) at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Poulan Cemetery. The Rev. Terry Siniard officiating. Born in Polk Co., GA, on January 28, 1935, Mr. Phillips is the son of the late Spencer R. Phillips Sr., and Flora Thrasher Phillips. He was retired from Roadway Express after 25 years. He loved fishing and was a collector of Bulldog memorabilia. He was a Baptist, who was very faithful and generous to the American Indian Children's Fund. Survivors include his wife, two daughters and a son-in-law, a stepson and daughter-in-law, stepdaughter, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews including a very special niece, and her family.

Reid, Dorothy
SYLVESTER — Dorothy Reid, 79, of 401 Reed St. Apt. 105, Philadelphia, PA, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Brown Chapel CME Church in Sylvester with interment in Shepard Memorial Garden in Sylvester. The Rev. Ida Freeman will officiate. Born June 21, 1927, in St. Petersburg (Pinellas County), FL, Mrs. Reid was educated in the Worth County Public School System. She was a graduate of Oakie Hill High School, Sylvester and attended Fort Valley State College (University). She was a dietary supervisor at Albert Einstein Medical Center for 38 years. She was a member of Brown Chapel CME Church in Sylvester, early in life. Later in life, she was a member of Mt. Moriah Temple Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA, where she served as a member of the choir. Survivors include three sons, daughter, sister, 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Shiver, Ida Abell
SYLVESTER — Ida Abell Shiver, 102, of Sylvester died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Bethel Baptist Church with interment in Bethel Cemetery. The Rev. Grady Morey and The Rev. Hilton H. Gillespie will officiate. Born June 13, 1904, in Worth County, to Henry and Polly Davis Spring, Mrs. Shiver had lived in Worth County all of her life. She was a homemaker who loved flowers, cooking and sewing. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, the W.M.U. and the Senior Sunday School Class. Mr. Shiver was preceded in death by her husband, Bartow Shiver, on March 16, 1975. Survivors include two daughters, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Stripling, Doris Watson
SYLVESTER — Doris Watson Stripling, 76, of Anderson City, GA, died Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Pine Shadows Retirement Manor.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Monday at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Kimball Cemetery. The Rev. Bruce Gordon officiating. Born on January 19, 1930, Mrs. Stripling was the daughter of John Ancil Watson and Arie DeBerry Watson. She was the widow of Forest Hoyt Stripling, who preceded in death on September 3, 1997. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church and attended Antioch Baptist Church. She has lived in Worth County all of her life. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, son and daughter-in-law, a sister, a brother, and sister-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Stripling was preceded in death by a brother, John Harrison Watson. The family will receive friends today (Sunday) from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at Banks Funeral Home.

SYLVESTER — Louise Richardson Womack, 86, of 605 N. Monroe St., Sylvester, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, at her residence. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sylvester New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church in Sylvester with interment in Shepard Memorial Gardens in Sylvester. The Rev. Calvin Wells Sr., pastor will officiate. Born May 14, 1920, in Worth County, Mrs. Womack was educated in the Worth County Public School System. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church early in life; later in life, was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she served as secretary of the usher board, secretary of the mission department, president of the pastor's aide board, president of the mission building committee, president of the Mt. Olive Baptist Association, and assistant church mother. In 2005, she moved her membership to Sylvester New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as mother of the church. Survivors include seven daughters, one son, two sisters, 35 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
