Talbot-Winston Street 1909-1913. The Great Oak Hotel

This photo was taken facing south sometime between 1909 and 1913. The first building on the left is the old First National Bank building (built in 1909) which is now Tim's Fireside Grill and directly across from it is the Souder Building which is now Knights Pharmacy. The second story wasn't added to the Souder Building until around 1912 when the Ford Dealership used the building. Notice the water tank in the middle of the intersection with the public well just below it.

A young Don Whatley serving drinks out in front of Reynolds Pharmacy circa 1939-1940. The building in the background is the Souder Building (currently Knights Pharmacy) and the two story building just behind it was a butcher shop. The owner of the shop lived in the second story of the building. The building on the far right is the Reynolds Banking Co building (I believe the bank had gone out of business by this time.
