Libraries |
This is an excellent source for genealogical materials. It has microfilm for the court records. When writing for information, please remember to include a SASE. The Reference Department has microfilm copies of the Columbus newspapers, beginning 1828, some papers are missing. They also have some old city directories from the later 1800's. The genealogy department of the library has a list of people who do research for a fee in this area. Please enclose a SASE when requesting these names.
From personal experience, the Genealogy Department staff is great. They do everything possible to work on your requests. Please do not ask them to do all of your work. They have had people send them a blank tree and ask for them to fill in the blanks. They are not paid genealogists and can not do that type of request.
