Everson lorieeverson@bellsouth.net Researcher's Note - Published: Tifton Gazette 17 Feb 2005 Dorothy Tippett Caraker CATONSVILLE, MD Funeral services for Dorothy Tippett Caraker, 90, formerly of Tippettville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17 in Tippettville Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Tippettville Cemetery. Mrs. Caraker died Sunday, Feb. 13 in a Baltimore hospital. Born in Tippettville, she was the daughter of the late Dr. T.W. Tippett and Lucile Vanlandingham Tippett. She was a graduate of Bessie Tift College, earned her masters degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Illinois and completed her doctoral work at Wayne State university in Detroit. Mrs. Caraker taught elementary school in Illinois and served as a guidance counselor at Thurston High School near Detroit, at Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York and at Northern Virginia Community College in Arlington, VA. She was a Baptist and was most recently a member of the Protestant Congregation of Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville. Survivors include her son, Andrew Malcolm Caraker of Crofton, MD; brother, Malcolm Bennett Tippett (Wilma) of Tippettville; grandchildren, Matthew Tippett Caraker, Katherine Anne Caraker, Jennifer Wilson, Cristi Schnehling, and Jake Schnehling, all of Maryland; great grandchildren, Sarah, Mariah, Ashlyn, and Cody, all of Maryland; and nieces, Rosemary Culpepper (Jack) of Bonaire and Teresa Stuart (James) of Dacula. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
