TRIBUTE OF RESPECT Camp Skidaway, Jan. 10, 1862. At a special meeting of the Dooly Guards, Company G, 4th Battalion Georgia Volunteers, held this day, the following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted: Whereas it has pleased Divine Providence to remove from the ranks our much loved and amiable brother and follow soldier, Private Hutson K. Sheppard, who died suddenly on the morning of the 6th inst. Resolved, That we deeply deplore and mourn the loss of one who ever discharged the duties incumbent upon him with alacrity and cheerfulness, and by his uniform good conduct had won our esteem and love; that in his death we have lost a boon companion and one who, by his social qualities, helped to lighten the tedium of camp life, and in whose society we passed many pleasant hours around the camp fires. Resolved, That we sincerely sympathize with his aged parents and his young and recent bride, in this their sad bereavement, and whilst they mourn the death of an affectionate son and husband, we sorrow a gallant and honorable brother soldier. Resolved, That a copy of this preamble and accompanying resolution be sent to the family of the deceased, and that the proceedings of this meeting be published in the Macon Telegraph. John B.
