On the 1880 census, shown below, for David Gill, one of Thomas Gill'
s sons,
shows he was born in GA (3/30/1808) while both his Father (Thomas) and Mother
were also shown as being born in GA.
1880 US census; Grant County AR; Volume 5; Franklin TWP; ED 98; page 212; sheet
26; line 17;No Dw or Fam #; June 10.
David Gill; M 72; Farmer; GA
Mary; F 24; Daughter; MS
That is why I firmly believe Thomas, born before 1775, (from census information
shown on the 1820 [over 45] Marion Co., MS census and the 1830 [bet. 50-60]
and 1840 Rankin Co., MS census) was in GA before the Revolutionary War.
A review of the maps of early GA indicates Bulloch Co. is immediately
west of Effingham Co., which is located on the line with South Carolina just
across the river from Allendale and Barnwell Cos., SC. Have not been able to
tie them with any of the GA or SC Gills.
