Mrs. Allen Is Dead At Flovilla At Age Of 93
Mrs. Robert L. Allen, 93, esteemed resident of Flovilla and one of the county's oldest citizens, was pronounced dead on arrival at Sylvan Grove Hospital Saturday morning after suffering a stroke at her home a short time earlier. She had been in declining health for a long number of years and had been hospitalized recently.
Born January 19, 1875 in Putnam County as Miss Marie Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Mr. W. M. Marshall and Mrs. Rebecca Pascall Marshall. She had lived in Flovilla most of her life where she was one of that town's most widely known residents. She taught school in Flovilla for a number of years prior to her marriage. Her husband was a merchant in Flovilla. Mrs. Allen was a member of Flovilla Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock from the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. L. H. Britt, a former pastor of Flovilla Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Flovilla Cemetery with Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Allen is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Lois A. Roberts of Atlanta, Miss Sara T. Allen of Flovilla, Mrs. Frances Harkins of McDonough, and Mrs. Rebecca Allen of Boston, Mass.; one son, Marshall Allen of Flovilla' two sisters, Mrs. J. H. Penick and Mrs. Isabell Stovall. both of Macon; several nieces and nephews.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
