Cumming Citizen Killed Thursday in Motor Crash
Claud A. Vaughn, resident of Cumming, Ga., was killed near Jenkinsburg at 3:15 Friday morning when the truck in which he was riding turned over when he attempted to miss a mule on the highway.
He was caught underneath the truck and received fatal injuries.
A lad, name not immediately available, riding in the truck with Mr. Vaughn escaped with minor bruises.
Seeing a mule on the highway and in trying to avoid the animal, the driver drove off the pavement shoulder and in trying to right the truck it turned over, according to Sheriff Pope who investigated the accident. Mr. Vaughn frequently stopped in Jackson on his way to south Georgia to purchase livestock. He was on such a trip when the accident occurred.
Funeral services for Mr. Vaughn were held Sunday at 11 a.m. at Brookhaven Baptist church.
