Atlantan Drowns At Jackson Lake
An 18-year-old Atlanta man, Larry Vaughn of 440 Techwood Drive, drowned in Jackson Lake Thursday afternoon, December 8th, when the boat in which he and three companions were riding capsized about 11:10 a. m. in the Newton County side of the lake at Conley's Ditch.
The Covington Rescue Squad was called to the scene with Vaughn's body being recovered about 2:15 o'clock. The other three occupants of the boat swam to shore, according to Newton County Coroner Sam Cowan.
Mr. Cowan said that the men were in a 13 - ft. plywood boat and were dressed in heavy clothing and boots when the boat made a sharp turn and turned over. The other occupants of the boat were Jimmy Bryson, Larry Weese and Buddy Yearlake, all of the Atlanta area.
