Mr. Riley Marvin Vickers

R. M. Vickers Dies After Long Illness
Mr. Riley Marvin Vickers, 79, widely known resident of the Flovilla Community, died about 1:45 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. H. Cawthon, after an extended illness. Mr. Vickers had been in declining health for a long period of time.
Mr. Vickers was a life-long resident of Butts County, being born on December 31, 1894, the son of Mr. William Vickers and Mrs. Jennie Wise Vickers.
Mr. Vickers was a retired farmer and was a member of the Flovilla Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, from the Flovilla Baptist Church with the Rev. P. M. Newton and the Rev. James Bohannon officiating. Interment was in Sandy Creek Cemetery with Haisten's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vickers is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Moore Vickers of Flovilla; two daughters, Mrs. L. H. Cawthon and Mrs. Bobby Moore; both of Jackson; one son, Edwin Vickers of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Virgie Norsworthy of Griffin and Mrs. Carl Kress of Shelby, North Carolina; one brother, W. R. Vickers of Griffin; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Asa Smith, W. E. Mayfield, Charlie Polk, Marvin Walker, Larry Marsh, and Timothy Skinner.
