At the eighty fourth annual session of the Bethel Baptist Association which
was held with the Fort Gaines Baptist Church, October 24th, 25th, and 26th, 1916
a petitionary letter from Mt. Ararat was presented to the Association for
membership and the committee appointed to report on the letter reported
favorably to its reception and on motion the church was admitted to membership.
The Moderator extended the right hand of fellowship to its messengers. Bros. E.
W. Jones and Dennis Willis and thus Mt. Ararat Baptist Church joined the
Association.
During the years 1916, 1917 and 1918 Rev. J. I. Quattlebaum served the church as
pastor, and H. M. Temples served as Church Clerk. The total number of baptisms
during these three years was 38.
The second pastor was J. W. Martin in 1919 and 1920. One was added by baptism to
the church. G. W. Kenny served the church as clerk to 1923.
In 1921 J. Houston became pastor for Mt. Ararat and served in that capacity for
three years. He received 11 members into the church by baptism. H. M. Temples
was clerk in 1923 and 1924. H. T. Temples, Jr. succeeded him in 1925 and served
one year.
In 1924 J. C. Parish became pastor and served until the present time (1932). 34
members were added by baptism. J. H. Jones has served as Clerk since 1926 and is
the present clerk of the church.
The present total membership of Mt. Ararat is 72.
