Oct. 16th 1795. r/Oct. 6th 1795. Power of Attorney. JOHN SHACKELFORD, "for the great confidence he places in his son, Mordecai", empowers him to sell a piece of land in King and Queen County, VA. within a mile of the crossroads near Mantapike, on the Mattapone River, containing 200 acres, more of less. Land was given to John's mother, Isabella, by her father, W. DAVID WEDDERBURN and inherited by him as being the only male heir. Mordecai also requested to recover John's share of the estate of his father, JOHN SHACKLEFORD, SR., deceased.

GEORGE TARVER, who has power of attorney from Brother John (Apr. 10, 1789), sells WILLIAM BOOKER for 30 pounds current money of the State, 30 acres, a part of 100 acre grant to JOHN TARVER. Bounded northwest by GIDEON BOOKER, southeast by WILLIAM TARVER and northeast by ANDERSON CRAWFORD.
1789. r/July 2nd 1791. Bond made in consequence of a marriage being planned between SARAH GERMANY and PAUL CALDWELL. Sarah wishes to secure property from the estate of her deceased husband, William, for her children, James, Mary, William, John, Jean and Stephen, to STEPHEN HEARD, Wilkes County. (Sarah and Paul were married in Richmond County, July 8, 1789)

WILLIAM GARDNER of Effingham County, to THOMAS GLASCOCK, for two shillings, 1000 acres in Columbia County on Briar Creek, bounded by YOUNG, MAGRUDER, POOLE and WHITAKER, 1,000 acres on said creek, bounded by MAGRUDER, ROBERSON and HARRIS. 1000 acre son said creek bounded by the southwest, all other sides vacant at the time of survey. Also 1000 acres on said creek bounded south by Roberson's Iron Works, on other sides vacant. Granted Gardner in five different surveys by His Excellency Gov. Matthews, Oct. 18, 1794.

RICHARD RANDOLPH and wife, Dolly, to ROBERT RANDOLPH, for one pound 400 acres on a branch of Germany Creek, bounded on west by land formerly belonging to Sir James Wright, south by SAMUEL WATSON, north and east by BENJAMIN FEW. Also a parcel of land to the west of Germany Creek, part of a tract formerly belonging to JONOTHAN SELL, 33 acres from THOMAS NAPIER and a part of a 200 acre tract formerly belonging to JOHN JONES, total acreage not given.

Sept. 5th 1793. r/Aug. 5th 1795. JOSEPH CLAY, merchant of Chatham County, and his wife Ann, to THOMAS CUMMING, for 200 pounds specie, 500 acres granted by King George the Third to FRANCIS BIGBEE, Practioner of Physic, now deceased, on Dec. 6th 1774. Bounded at time of survey by JOHN GERMANY, RICHARD MEADOWS and the Great Kiokee Creek. Tract sold by Sheriff to said Clay, May 12, 1775.
Sept. 23rd 1794. r/Aug. 6th 1795. JOHN LAMAR, SR., and wife Lucy, to ZEPHENIAH ATHY, for 20 pounds sterling, 100 a. situated near Quaker Springs, on a branch of Savage Creek.
Mar. 3, 1795. r/Aug. 7, 1795. ZEPHENIAH ATHY sells above tract to MARMADUKE RICHETSON for 20 pounds.
Aug. 14th 1795. Quit Claim. By will dated Nov. 28, 1793, DANIEL MARSHALL, minister of the Gospel, left a 50 acre tract on the Augusta Road and Kiokee Creek. Heirs sign release to ABRAHAM MARSHALL, Daniel, John, Levi, Solomon, Jos., Moses and Zachariah. (He signed will Zacheus)., ELIAS WELBOURNE signed in right of his wife, MARY MARSHALL)
Aug 14, 1795. JAMES RICHARDS, Sheriff of Richmond County, by virtue of an execution issued by the Superior Court, Chatham County, March 17th 1775, wherein JOSEPH CLAY and JOSEPH HABERSHAM, plaintiffs, JOHN COBBISON and wife Ann, SAMUEL HAMMOND and wife Rebekah, sell unto LEWIS GARDNER, 116 acres, part of a tract known as Uchee Island in the Savannah River, originally granted to JOHN RAE, Oct. 29th 1765. Sold at auction, Gardner high bidder at 82 pounds, 10 shillings.
May 13, 1792. r/Aug 15, 1795. Quit Claim. LEWIS GARDNER assigns all his rights in property purchased by MARY CARMICHAEL at Sheriff's sale in Augusta, in the case of THOMAS NAPIER vs. JOHN CARMICHAEL, fi-fa. Property consists of Negroes, Bristol, Fanny, Cato, Priscilla, Mingo, Phebe, Milly, Jacob, Isaac and Rebekah. Also 26 head of cattle, some hogs, three beds and furniture. Eight horses, two tables a chest, 197 bushels of corn, and a "BOWFATT:, (buffet). Gardner married Mrs. Carmichael, June 7, 1792.
July 5th 1795. r/Aug. 15th 1795. ASHEL GARDNER and spouse Sarah, to JOHN ANDREWS for 15 pounds. "our rights to be tract of land on Little Kiokee and Great Kiokee Creeks, formerly belonging to MICAJAH ANDREWS."
Sept. 6th 1793. r/Aug 15th 1795. Sale by Heirs. JOSEPH MCCORMICK and wife (Margaret (widow of Thomas WATSON), adm. of Watson estate, and heirs: Thomas, Benjamin, Peter, Mary (now Maddocks), Rebecca (now Durden), George, Hannah, William and James, for 90 pounds, sell to RICHARD HARRISON, 162 1/2 acres, whereon said Harrison now lives, part of 500 acre granted to Thomas Watson, deceased, and surveyed by IGNATIUS FEW. (Watson died in 1783)
Aug. 1, 1795. r/Aug 22, 1795. GEORGE NAYLOR and wife Henrietta, of Augusta, mortgage to BENJAMIN SIMMS, Esquire for $20,022.86, plantation on Big Kiokee, 300 acres, formerly the property of Rev. DANIEL STURGIS: One-half of all property in the town of Hardwicke, purchased jointly with ISAAC POLLOCK. One tract in Jincoe's Point (no location or county given). One island called Redbird Island (no location or county given). One island called Bear Island. (no location or county given), Negroes: Ned, Tom, Jock, Dick, Sarah, Henney and her child Charlotte, Hariot and Grace. Mortgaged to Simms for a term of 500 years.
May 7th 1795. r/Sept. 7, 1795. JAS. RICHARDS, Sheriff of Richmond County, sells at auction, 400 acres, granted to CHARLES JORDAN, Nov. 6, 1700. Seized under execution in Chatham County, on suit of JOSEPH CLAY and JOSEPH HABERSHAM, against surviving partners of the firm of RAE, ELBERT and GRAHAM. ROBERT WARE, high bidder at 80 pounds.
Oct. 5th 1786. r/Feb. 12th 1800. ROBERT WATKINS and wife Elizabeth Martha, to CLEMENTIUS DAVIS, for 150 pounds, sell 350 acres, being the balance of the ISAAC WOODS estate of 850 acres, originally granted LEONARD CLAIBORNE, Sept. 5, 1769.
Sept 4th 1799. r/Feb. 17th 1800. Elizabeth and Catherine KILGORE and WM. DELANEY, sell to JOHN MORELAND of Jefferson County for $500, a tract of 250 a. lying at the mouth of Big Kiokee Creek on the Savannah River, granted to RALPH KILGORE, Dec. 10th 1756. (Kilgore was one of the earliest settlers, stating in his petition dated April 1755, that "he had a wife and one child, and wishes 250 acres on mouth of Cayoke, about 14 miles above Augusta". He later found that this land was not available and asked for 100 a. on Kegg Crek, 20 miles from Augusta. If he was granted the 250 acres at the mouth of the Kiokee, the Board had evidently made an error in telling him it was taken. In 1768, he petitioned for an additional 350 acres. "Where I lived before the Cherokee War", stating that he now had a wife and five children. His will on file in Wilkes County, was signed June 9th 1783, naming wife, Eleanor. Son John, William, Delaney's three children, his widow Mary, now Allison, daughter Elizabeth, now Sutherland, Catherine, son Robert. (They were given one shilling but mother was given option of giving them more, if they reformed and were obedient.
Feb. 16th 1798. r/Feb. 27th 1800. WILLIAM THOMPSON to JOHN LAMKIN, for $500 a tract of 150 acres on Big Kiokee Creek, bounded on east by Kilgore's Old Place, part of a tract granted to GEO. LAMBECKER in 1769. Also part of a tract granted to LEVI SHEFTALL in 1769.
Oct. 20, 1788. r/Feb. 27, 1800. WILLIAM KILGORE, SR., and wife Sarah, of Greene County, to JEREMIAH LAMKIN for 200 lbs. sell 290 acres, bounded on south by Great Kiokee Creek, northeast by Savannah River. Granted to said Kilgore by Sir James Wright, April 4, 1774. (William Sr., was a contemporary, perhaps brother of Ralph. In the Colonial Records, Feb. 1759, he petitioned for an additional 100 acres, 30 miles above Augusta, for wife and four children)
Feb. 1st 1799. r/Mar. 2 1800. TURQUIL MCNEIL to CLAIBORNE MCNEIL for 400 Spanish Milled dollars, 204 acres on headstall Creek, adj. JOHN MCNAIR and NATHAN BARNETT. (should read McNeil to Claiborne NEWSOM, instead to McNeil)
Dec. 28th 1799. r/Mar. 11, 1800. WILLIAM THOMAS, wheelwright, to KINDRED CARTER, for $24, eight acre granted to said Thomas, Dec. 10th 1788. (Thomas describes himself as "Poet, wheelwright and Quaker) Land lies north of the Quaker Road from Augusta, Bounded by BURNSIDE and CARTER.
June 26th 1798. r/Mar. 11 1800. RICHARD JOWELL and Rispah, his wife, to PLEASANT MOORE, for $500, a tract of 168 acres on Little River, bounded by THOMAS SHIPP part of a 300 acre grant to JOHN CONNER by Gov. Irwin in 1796.
Mar. 28th 1797. Mar. 13th 1800. JOHN CONNER of Hancock County, sells above tract to RICHARD JOWELL for $128.57.
Mar. 13th 1800. r/Mar. 13th 1800. Power of Attorney. ABEDNEGO WRIGHT to JOHN BURNETT, to sue and recover from JAMES THOMPSON and WILLIAM SLIGH of Charleston, S.C., Executors of last Will and Testament of ISAAC JONES, a legacy of 55 pounds, five shillings, with interest from Dec. 8, 1789, left to ELIZABETH JONES late wife of said Jesse, and still unpaid. Also maintenance for Jesse's infant son, Joshua. (Abednego Wright married Elizabeth Jones in Columbia County, June 19th 1791)

South by BROWN and vacant land. East by NATHANIEL COAST. West by JAMES ROSS. Land granted by Sir James Wright to ARCHIBALD BULLOCH, Esquire, Oct. 13, 1774.

Sept. 17th 1794. r/Apr. 3rd 1800. JOHN FEE, merchant, of Richmond County, to JOHN PHILLIPS, merchant of Philadelphia, for five shillings, 1000 acres bounded NE by TINDALL and FEE. Northwest by ARCHER. Southwest by MCGEE, on head of Sandy Run. Granted by Gov. George Matthews, Apr. 24th 1794. Sworn to before Mayor Matthew CLARKSON of Philadelphia, Sept. 18, 1794.
Sept. 12th 1794. r/Apr. 14, 1800. Same to same, for five shillings. (gives metes, which takes up three pages), 2000 acres on waters of Deep Creek, given in two grants from Gov. Matthews, May 11th, last past. Signed in Philadelphia by THOMAS MCKEAN, Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Philadelphia, and by Gov. Thomas MIFFLIN of the Commonwealth of Pa. (unable locate Deep Creek in Columbia)
Jan. 26th 1800. r. Apr. 17th 1800. BENJAMIN GRUBBS to JOAB GRUBBS, for one dollar, sells 387 1/2 acres on Uchee Creek. Bounded by CRAWFORD, MAXWELL, ALDRIDGE and said Grubbs. Originally granted to said Benjamin Grubbs.
Sept. 1799. r/Apr. 18th 1800. GEORGE FEE and Elizabeth, his wife, to HARRIS SPIERS, on behalf of John and JAMES SPIERS for $2000, sells 200 acres granted to WILLIAM TINDALL, February 22, 1786 and conveyed to JOHN TINDALLL, and by him to GEORGE FEE. Likewise, 600 acre granted to JOHN TINDALL by Gov. Handley, May 28, 1788.
Dec. 4, 1797. r/Apr. 18, 1800. WILLIAM POOLE to SAMUEL POOLE, for 200 pounds, a 200 acres tract on each side of Sandy Run Creek, bounded southeast by Prator's land, northeast by HAMILTON. Originally surveyed by WILLIAM POOLE and granted by Gov. Telfair, Aug. 19, 1790.

May 18, 1800. r/same date. Power of Attorney. ANNE SPIERS, adm. estate of HARRIS SPIERS, gives power of attorney to JOSHUA BETTS, to sue for and recover from Col. BENJAMIN DREW of South Hampton, Va., all monies due her on estate of HARRIS SPIERS. All sums of money due as compensation for the condemning and execution of Negroes, the property of said Spiers. (as stated before, Spiers was murdered by some slaves he was transporting from Va. to Georgia. Also, to recover from any person in North Carolina, a Negro woman and child left there by my former attorney, SAMUEL BOWDRE in February last, which Negroes are the property of the estate of HARRRIS SPIERS.

JOSEPH COOPER and Martha, his wife, to JAMES HAMILTON, for $60, a one third part of a 200 acre tract on the south side of Kiokee Creek, adj. to said Hamilton, NATHANIEL PERRY (sometimes spelled PEARRE), LAZENBY, STURGIS, known as Allison's Old Place, which one third is claimed by MARTHA (ALLISON) COOPER, as dower, she being the widow of HENRY ALLISON and since intermarried with JOSEPH COOPER.

June 25, 1800. BOND. Same date. JOHN FLORENCE and WILLIAM NOLAN, of Lincoln County, to ELIZABETH FLORANCE, bound in the sum of $10,000. John and Elizabeth were Adms. of estate of WILLIAM FLORANCE, deceased, and all heirs agreed on a division of the property. He and Noland make bond to secure her interest.

Mrs. MARGARET BOSWELL releases dower.

Dec. 3, 1799. r/July 8, 1800. Deed of Gift. JOSHUA SANDERS to son, JEREMIAH, Negro men slaves Henry and Will, "to remain in possession of my wife Patience, during her natural life". (Joshua's will recorded in Columbia County, July 10th 1800. Wife's will in Hancock County 1807)
