Note from transcriber:
I asked a friend, Neil Frandsen, to look at the deed. He is a retired surveyor and he offered this information.  I sketched it, from the 'metes and bounds', with the following Directions:  Stake; N8°W; Pine; N45°E; Black Gum; N45°W; Pine; S78°E; Poplar; S67°W; Pine: S80°W; back at Home Stake.  Setting-up a Surveying-Program to minimize the length of Perimeter, with the given Bearings, and the given 150 Acres, would give one solution to the problem. My hand-sketch shows the S67°W as the longest Traverse, and the S80°W Traverse as the shortest.  Without seeing the Terrain, I would bet there be a creek on the west side of the Property, and a Ridgeline to the East. There might be a marsh, spring, or other wet spot on, or near, the NE corner of the property, as well, from the known preference of Poplars for growing spots. Grin.  My choice of N8°W, for the truncated Bound's Direction, is simple Surveyor's Logic, just from inspection of the rest of the Traverse. All those Trees will have a very good set of Blazes, suitably carved, and all the Traverses will be Hand-Cut, at least one Axe-handle wide. One Axe-handle is the olden standard for a hand-cut Line-of-sight, for a Surveyor's use. Old hand-cuts can be found for a very long time, at least an hundred Years, from personal experience, here in Alberta.
