Courthouse History

The Crawford County Courthouse was originally built soon after Knoxville was designated as the county seat in December 1823.  That building burned in February 1830. Construction of the new courthouse was completed in January 1832. The courthouse has been in continuous service since that date and is the oldest county courthouse still in operation in the United States.
