Some miscellaneous records I found on the Sloan's.
1856 Mortgage papers signed between William Sloan [Elizabeth's son?] and John
Sloan where William is buying a lot from John. (Lot #126, in the 7th [district?]
of originally Houston now Crawford County containing approx 202 acres).
1862 - William Sloan [son of Elizabeth?] is appointed by the court (James J Ray)
as administrator of John Sloan's estate......so John must have died in 1860/61.
Receipts for 1863 Crawford County Tax payments showing payment of John Sloan
(deceased) taxes by Elizabeth
Sloan. So she must have thought she had a stake making sure the county didn't
take John's land for non payment of taxes......
Petition to the court to replace William Sloan who has died and therefore not
performing as the administrator of John Sloan's estate. Date looks like
1866....so William must have died in 1865/66.
Lastly an Elizabeth Sloan's will, dated Sept 13, 1865 submitted to the court in
October 1865 (when Elizabeth dies]. In the body of the will she leaves all she
possesses to Elizabeth Buzbee an orphaned child living with her at the time of
her death. There is no mention of any of the Sloan family. The court appoints
Thomas Kennedy as Administrator of her estate.
A big thanks goes out to Bob Sloan for submitting this information!
