Hicks
Hicks records in a book titled "Morgan County,
Georgia Inferior Court for Ordinary Purposes, 1808-1834 and Will Books A & B,
1808-1830" compiled by Michael Martin Farmer. The book is available at the
Washington Memorial Library. Someone on the Crawford County list a while back
was trying to research Amos Hicks, but I can't remember who the researcher
was. Hopefully this will reach them. Amos Hicks was a resident of Crawford
County, GA according to the Crawford Co. GA Guardians Book A, pg 52 when a
record of his death is given beginning in Jan 1834. His estate was settled
by Elijah H. Hicks whom I believe to be his son.
Morgan Co., GA records regarding Hicks (Amos &
John J. Hicks:
Inferior Court Records 1822-1834, pg 216: 13 Sep.
1827, John McCoy appointed guardian of person & property of Appleton Hicks &
Mary Hicks, orphans of John J. Hicks, decd. Will Book B, pg 204-205 gives the
will of John J. Hicks. This will mentions his wife, Anna Hicks, son Appleton
and dau Mary. It was dated 27 June 1826. Executors were: Ewell McCoy, Berry
Bostwick & Amos Hicks. Witnesses were: M. Hughes, James Hamlet, Samuel
Watts. The will was proved 1 Jan 1827.
Morgan Co. Deed Bk-F, p. 246:

Morgan Co., GA for $300, part of Lot 231, Morgan Co., Baldwin when surveyed,
5th Dist., on Appalachee River waters adj. Dorough Hanson & Jones' land, 52
acres.
Hope this helps someone out there. I can't prove
this Amos Hicks is the same one later found in Crawford County, but thought
I'd share the records just in case they might give a researcher another clue
to pursue.
A big thanks goes out to
