Will - Enoch Renfroe

Written: August 7 1802
In the name of God Amen. I Enoch Renfroe of the county of Warren and State of
Georgia, planter, being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be
given to God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is
appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and
testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my
soul to God that gave it and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be buried in
decent Christian Burial at the discression of my Executors, nothing doubting but
at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty power
of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless
me with in this Life I give demise & dispose of the Same in the following manner
and form that is to Say First I give and Bequeath to Enoch Renfroe my
beloved Son all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the
County of Warren & sd state on waters of Joe's Creek containing one hundred and
fifty acres, the same being the place whereon I now live and was originally
granted to Stephen Mitchel by his Excelancy George Handley Governor dated 15th
of August 1788 - and also I give and bequeath to my son Enoch Renfroe one other
tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres situate lying and being in
above said state and county formerly Wilkes county on Joe's Creek adjoining the
first above mentioned tract of land which tracts of two hundred acres being part
of a tract of 775 acres granted to Samuel Camp the 22d day of January 1789 which
said tracts or parcels of land together with all & Singular the premises and
appurtinances thereon belonging or in any wise appurtaining to sd tracts or
parcels of land unto my said son Enoch Renfroe his heirs & assigns then after my
decease - Also I give my son Joel's Widow Sarah Renfroe five shillings -
Also I give to her Daughter Nancy ten Dollars. Also I give & Bequeath to
my beloved Children namely Mary Hancock, Stephen Renfroe, Nathaniel Renfroe's
Widow Jane Baker, Margaret Renfroe five Dollars her portion (turn over)
Sarah
Rushin, John Renfro's Widow Martha Renfroe five Dollars to her and ten Dollars
to her Daughter Nancy - Rachel Rushing, Lydia Chivers, William Renfroe, Nathan
Renfroe, Enoch Renfroe, Martha Matthews likewise. I do appoint my son Enoch
Renfroe and John Rushing Executors to this my last will and Testament for them
to take the whole of all my property and sell it at public sale and Divide the
money equally between these Eleven who have not a certain sum left them the
other three which have a sum Left them are to have no more of my Estate after my
decease wherefore I have Set my hand and fixed my Seal this Seventh day of
August and in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and two and in the
27th of American Independance.

Additional Comments:
Mary Renfroe, daughter of Enoch, married Clement Hancock, Sr. They moved to
Wilkinson County, GA in 1810. Their sons Clement, Jr., John and William Hancock
were living in Crawford Co., GA by the 1830 census. They and many of their
descendants are buried in Crawford Co. and many more still live there.
