Married
Near Roberta, at the home of the bride, occurred the marriage of Mr. Tommie Amos, of this county, to Miss Ola Smith. Miss Smith is one of Crawford
County’s most accomplished young ladies. She has many friends in that county who regret very much to give her up, but her short acquaintance here has
already gained her many friends. We gave her a hearty welcome among us. The groom is the eldest son of Mr. T.C. Amos, near Howard. Mr. Amos is one
of the most industrious and progressive farmers of Taylor County. He has many friends in this section of the county and they wish for him and his bride much
success in life. After the ceremony they came to the home of the groom, where a sumptuous supper awaited them.
On that day glad of joy complete,
When your hearts in tender union meet
At the sacred marriage shrine,
I’d gladly lay down at your feet
Some gift of worth, of beauty rare,
My approving love to declare;
But opportunity, nor wealth of gold,
Nor magic wand are mine.
Still deep from my heart as long as I live,
Such as I have I fondly give,
My prayers for help divine, though in distant lands be,
My thoughts about you cling,
And in the hour your two hearts blended
My heart to heaven ascended;
That you might in Christ united be,
And reach at last the Crystal Sea.
Your Loving Sister,
Lucile
