Andrews, Audrey May
ROBERTA - Audrey May Andrews, 85, died Sunday, August 6, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Miss Audrey, as she was known around Roberta, was born in Mitchell, Georgia to Frank and Dora May, who owned a small farm and had five children. She was married to the late Jack H. Andrews, a Roberta native, who died in 1972. -She graduated from Georgia College with a teaching degree, and taught for 30 years, most of them as a 4th grade teacher at Crawford County Elementary School. She also taught for several years on St. Simons Island and in Thomaston, Georgia, and Jacksonville, Florida. After retiring from the teaching profession, she served five years as a social worker for the Crawford County Department of Family and Children Services. She was particularly fulfilled by her work in the area of adoptions. -As an active member of Roberta Methodist Church, Miss Audrey served in several leadership capacities, including director of the Methodist Youth Fellowship for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Retired Teachers' Association. She loved the people of Crawford County and was active in civic projects. She helped in fund-raising for the high school auditorium renovation project in 1996 by editing the "Yarns of Yesteryear," a collection of 100 personal reminiscences by the county's residents. Because of Miss Audrey's devotion to this project, "Yarns of Yesteryear" far exceeded expectations and, in fact, became a "best seller" around the county. Known for her ability to turn a phrase, she was often called upon by friends to write wedding announcements, obituaries, public addresses and the like. -She is survived by a daughter,
two granddaughters, three nieces, two nephews, and a sister-in-law. -Miss Audrey also leaves behind four devoted
caregivers. She will be truly missed by the many friends and family who knew her. -Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 10, at 4P.M. at the Roberta United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 at Goddard Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Roberta United Methodist Church are appreciated. -Goddard Funeral Home of Roberta is in charge of arrangements.
Harris, William
MUSELLA - William Harris, 53, died Monday, August 21, 2006. Funeral services will be at 1P.M. Friday at Springhill Baptist Church in Lizella, GA with interment in the church cemetery. -Survivors include his wife,

Jordan, Charles
ROBERTA - Charles E. Jordan, 70, died Saturday, August 5, 2006. Funeral services will be at 11A.M. Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church in Roberta, Georgia with interment in Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia. -Mr. Jordan was a 22 year retired veteran with the United States Army and was a City Councilman of Roberta for 10 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church, attended Crawford County Schools and was a Gold Card Member of Masonic Lodge #202 for over 50 years. -Survivors include wife,
sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, twenty-eight grandchildren, eleven great
grandchildren, and devoted family friend. -Visitation: Wednesday from 7:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Bentley Funeral Home, Roberta, Georgia.
Lee, Margaret White
ROBERTA - Margaret White Lee, 81, passed away at the Heartland Hospice facility on August 24, 2006. A longtime resident of Crawford County, Mrs. Lee was the daughter of the late Billy and Maggie White of Roberta and the widow of the late Joe Edward Lee of Shelby, North Carolina. -Mrs. Lee was her high school valedictorian and was a business school graduate. She served as office manager and accountant for a number of Macon area firms, including Sterchi's and Joseph N. Neal. Later on, she served as the Site manager of the Older Americans Council (OAC) of Crawford County for fifteen years, and following her retirement, served an additional twelve years as a volunteer. OAC is an organization tasked with providing hot meals and social services to the elderly. Mrs. Lee also served as the Director of the Roberta Housing Authority, overseeing its expansion and modernization. -Mrs. Lee is survived by her
sister of Cairo; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. In addition, Mrs. Lee is survived by her
son; daughter-in-law; and two adoring grandchildren. -A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2P.M. at the Roberta United Methodist Church of which Mrs. Lee was a member. Burial will be a private ceremony for family members only. -Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. -Goddard Funeral Home of Roberta is in charge of arrangements.
