Martha Bennett Chancellor -ROBERTA - Martha Bennett Chancellor, age 95, passed away July 25, 2003 in the Roberta Health Care Center. Graveside services will be held 11A.M., Monday, in Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, GA. Mrs. Chancellor was a resident of Roberta for fifty-three years having been transferred here from Culloden as a telephone operator with H.C. Bonds Telephone Co. She was born in Walton County, Georgia, in 1908, the daughter of the late Willard Killis Bennett and Oveila Stevens Bennett Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Grady Chancellor, and her son, Jack Bennett Chancellor; three sisters and five brothers. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Goddard Funeral Home of Roberta has charge of arrangements.
Virginia Hammock -ROBERTA - Virginia Hammock, age 40, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24 at 11A.M. in the Chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Reverend Fredrick Reid will officiate. Mrs. Hammock was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin M. Hammock, Sr. She was born in Macon and had lived in Roberta most of her life. She was a homemaker and of Baptist Faith. The family will receive friends at Crest Lawn Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00P.M. Wednesday, July 23. Crest Lawn Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Doris Irene Hartley -MUSELLA - Doris Irene Harley, formerly of Grinnell, Iowa and a resident of Musella, Georgia since 1996, died in her home on July 4, 2003. Her parents, Janie Gertrude Teed and J. E. Nichols of Iowa, her husband, Frank Hartley and two sons, Lynn E. Myers and Kenneth E. Meyers preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at the Musella Baptist Church in Musella on Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at 10A.M. Interment will be in Newton, Iowa at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cerebral Pasley Foundation. Goddard Funeral Home of Roberta has charge of arrangements.
Graham Jordan, Jr. -ROBERTA - Graham Jordan, Jr., 78, died July 18, 2003. Services will be 2P.M., Saturday, in Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church with burial in Pine Grove Church Cemetery. Bentley Funeral Home, Roberta.
Gordon Michael Prather -KNOXVILLE - Gordon Michael Prather, 41, died Monday. Services will be private. Goddard Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Edward "Ed" Eric Schwed -ROBERTA - Edward "Ed" Eric Schwed, 85, of 2260 Jackson Road, died Thursday in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2P.M., Sunday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Main Gate, with Military Honors. The Rev. Charles Hanson will officiate. Members of Moose Lodge No. 1455 are asked to sit as a group during the service. The family will meet friends from 7:00 until 9:00P.M., Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Schwed, son of the late Rudolph and Marie Schwed, was born in New York City, New York and had moved to Roberta two and a half years ago. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran serving during World War II and the Korean War attaining the rank of M/Sgt. and was a mail carrier retired from U. S. Postal Service. Mr. Schwed was a member of Living Hope Congregational Holiness Church and was a former Governor and Pilgrim in Moose Lodge No. 1455. Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, has charge of arrangements.
Cora Lee Moulton Tague -CRAWFORD COUNTY - Cora Lee Moulton Tague, 87, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2003. Graveside services will be 11A.M., Saturday, July 12 in Roberta City Cemetery. Bobby Jackson and Al English will officiate. -Born and lived in Crawford County all of her life, Mrs. Tague was a homemaker and widow of the late Howard Tague. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00P.M. Friday at Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley. Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley has charge of arrangements.
Randy T. Wilder -MUSELLA - Funeral services for Randy T. Wilder will be held at 11A.M., Saturday, at Musella Baptist Church. Interment will be in Roberta City Cemetery. Mr. Wilder, age 45, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Wilder and Margaret Pierson Wilder. Mr. Wilder was born in Taylor County and was a lifelong resident of Crawford County. He worked for a local tobacco company in Macon and was a member of the Musella Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, 3780 Eisenhower Pkwy., Macon, GA 31206. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. -Goddard Funeral Home of Roberta has charge of arrangements.
