OBITUARY OF E. S. HICKS (ELLIOT SCOTT HICKS)

E. S. Hicks Dies At Lizella Home
Funeral Services This Afternoon for Confederate Veteran
Elliot Scott Hicks, 85, Confederate Veteran, died at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. C. E. Marshall, in Lizella yesterday morning. He had been ill three
months. Mr. Hicks was born in Crawford county on April 2, 1848, a son of
Martha Futch Hicks and Elijah Hicks. He was married to Miss Julia Smith when he
was a young man and she lived until 1929 the couple celebrating in that year the
60th anniversary of their marriage. For 50 years Mr. Hicks was a steward
in the Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Rynolds (sic) Methodist
Church but at the time of his death was a member of the Lizella Methodist.
He is survived by four sons, W. T.; E. J.; J. E. and L. A. Hicks: two daughters,
Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. L. E. McCook; 23 grandchildren and eight great
grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon
in the Lizella Methodist church. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
