Bennett, Hoke (Grandpa), Sr.
MUSELLA - Funeral services for Hoke (Grandpa) Bennett, Sr., will be held at
11A.M., Monday, June 24, 2002 at Musella Baptist Church. Interment will be in
Roberta City Cemetery. Dr. Allen Comish will officiate. Mr. Bennett, age 95,
died at his residence Saturday, June 22, 2002. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Helen Lucille Harbuck Bennett. Mr. Bennett was born in Walton County and
had lived most of his life in Crawford County. He owned and operated a dairy
farm for many years. He was a member and Deacon of Musella Baptist Church for
many years. He reorganized the Musella Baptist Church Sunday School Class in
1947. He was a member of Crawford County Lions Club, Modern Woodman of America,
Woodmen of the World and Historical Society. He was an agent for Farmers Mutual
Insurance Company and Director of Crawford County Farm Bureau. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Musella Baptist Church Building Fund. Goddard Funeral Home of
Roberta has charge of arrangements.
Bentley, Ruth W.
MACON - Ruth W. Bentley, 91, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at her
residence. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11A.M. in the Chapel of Macon
Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial to follow in Roberta City Cemetery.
Reverence Dan Wilson will officiate. Born in Crawford County to the late J.C.
and Elizabeth Webb, she has been a resident of Macon for most of her life. She
was a former postal employee and retired from the Bibb County Board of
Education. She was a member of Cherokee Heights United Methodist Church, and
touched the lives of many people. The family will receive friends at
the funeral home Friday from 7:00 until 9:00P.M. Memorial contributions may be
made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 4406, Macon, GA 31208 or to
Hospice Care Options, 151 College Street, Macon, GA 31201. Macon Memorial Park
Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Brown, William Jack
BYRON - William Jack Brown, 79, passed away Friday, June 7. Graveside
services with Military Honors will be held 4P.M. Sunday, June 9 at Society Hill
Baptist Church Cemetery in Crawford County. Rev. Jesse Richardson will
officiate. -Born in Byron, Mr. Brown was self-employed. He was a WWII Army
Veteran that served in the Battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland,
Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the European African Middle Eastern
Campaign Medal with Five Bronze Stars, the Distinguished Unit Badge and Good
Conduct Medal. Preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae Brown.The family will receive
friends at Rooks Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00P.M. Saturday, June 8. Rooks Funeral Home of Byron has charge of arrangements.
Colbert, Maggie Mae
88 of Roberta died Sunday, June 2, 2002. Services were held Friday,
June 7, 2002 at New Lebanon Baptist Church on Hopewell Road, with burial in
Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Roberta. Bentley and Sons Funeral Home
of Roberta had charge of arrangements.
Corbin, Eric VaShawn
ROBERTA - Eric VaShawn Corbin, age 24, died on Thursday, June 13, 2002.
Services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at 2P.M. at Crawford County
Middle School Auditorium with burial in Atwater Cemetery in Crawford County.

Fuller, James "Buck" Jr.
59, of Brunswick died Thursday, June 20, 2002. Born May 1, 1943 in
Roberta, he was the son of the late James
and Clara Bell Fuller. He attended public schools of Crawford County. At
an early age, he joined Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Church in Musella. After
relocating to Brunswick in 1976, he joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church, where he
served on the Usher Board until his death. He was retired from Georgia
Power after 32 years of employment, and he was a member of the Working Men's
Club for five years.
Services were held Saturday, June 29, 2002 at Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Church in
Musella, with burial in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Hicks and Sons

Newberry, Hazel M.
Mattie Hazel Mosely
Newberry, 101, of Lizella
died Thursday, June 27, 2002 at her residence after a brief
illness.
Born June 30, 1900 in Taylor County, she was the daughter
of the late Luther F. and Mary B. Cosey Mosely.
She moved to Bibb County as a child, attended public schools
there,
and lived in Bibb County most of her life.
She was the widow of Floyd S, Newberry, her husband of 56 years,
and was a homemaker. She was for many years a member
of Midway Baptist Church, was the oldest living member
of Lizella Baptist Church, and had been a Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death also by seven children,
Floyd S. Newberry, Jr., Marjorie Pearl Newberry, Viva Anne
Newberry,
and four infants; her stepmother, Anna A. Mosely; two sisters; and five
brothers.
Services were held Sunday, June 30, 2002 at Lizella Baptist
Church,
with burial in the Lizella United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The Reverend Doug Davis and Al Earls officiated.
Crest Lawn Funeral Home of Macon had charge of arrangements.
