Cochran, Annie Clyde
ROBERTA - Annie Clyde M. Cochran, 93, died Friday, June 6, 2003. Funeral
services will be at 11A.M., Monday, June 9, at Roberta United Methodist Church
and burial will follow in the Roberta City Cemetery. -A native of Crawford
County, Mrs. Cochran was the fifth child of twelve children born to Will and
Fannie Moncrief. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard S. Cochran, and a
son, H. Royce Cochran. She was a member of the Roberta United Methodist Church,
the Crusaders Sunday School Class and the OAC. -Survivors include her children,
Arnita Harris of Roberta, Russell (Evelyn) Harris of Musella; grandchildren,
Pandy (Gary) Horton of Forsyth, Ben (Tammy) Harris of Musella;
great-grandchildren, Broc Harris of Musella, Victoria and Rebekah Horton, both
of Forsyth; sisters, Emily Roberts of Eatonton, Sue Wade of Decatur, and Lucille
Reeves of Thomaston. -The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.,
Sunday, June 8, at Goddard Funeral Home in Roberta. Flowers are welcome or
contributions may be made to the Roberta United Methodist Church or your
favorite charity.
Collins, Mary Prater
ROBERTA - Mary Prater Collins, age 58, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2003.
Services will be Sunday, June 15, 2003 at 2P.M. at the Crawford County Middle
School Auditorium with interment in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. -The family
can be contacted at 11 Dent Road. -Bentley Funeral Home, Roberta.
Law, Helen E.
ROBERTA - Funeral services for Helen E. Law will be held at 11A.M., Thursday
at Roberta United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Roberta City Cemetery.
Mrs. Law, age 82, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Clarence Law, her parents, Charlie Ben and Sadie Gatlin and her
brother, Charlie Ben Gatlin, Jr. -She was born in Pulaski County and had lived
in Crawford County since 1996, moving from Warner Robins. She was a retired EKG
technician for the Medical Center of Central Georgia, a member of Northview
United Methodist Church in Warner Robins and a volunteer at Bargain Box.
-Survivors include her sons: Tommy (Diane) Hortman and Kenny Hortman, both of
Roberta; her daughters; Teresa (Glenn) Hortman of Roberta and Sylvia Williams
(Alan) of Sylvester; her brother, Billy Gatlin of Hawkinsville; her sisters:
Grace Jenning of Hawkinsville and Mary Peacock of Eastman; ten grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren. -Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00
until 8:00P.M. at the funeral home. -Goddard Funeral Home of Roberta has charge
of arrangements.
Richardson, Joe S. "Kay"
ROBERTA - Services for Joe S. "Kay" Richardson are 1P.M., Friday at
Macedonia Baptist Church, Roberta with interment in Taylor Cemetery, Macon
County. -"Kay" expired June 5. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and
attended Older American Council. -Survivors include children: Samuel Richardson
and Martha Richardson of Detroit, Freddie J. Richardson, Los Angeles, Joe A.
Richardson, Apopka, FL, Ida Rolle and Shirley Richardson, St. Petersburg; 18
grandchild-ren; nine great-grandchildren; devoted cousins, Lelia Grant and
family, Roberta. -The family may be contacted at the Grant's, 1547 HWY 128,
South. -Hicks and Sons, Roberta entrusted with arrangements.
Sams, Joseph Alton
LIZELLA - Joseph Alton "Pop" Sams, 88, of 5999 Falcon Way died Saturday in a
local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11A.M. Wednesday at Snow's
Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, with burial in the Roberta City Cemetery in
Roberta, Georgia. Elder Garry Hall will officiate. The family will receive
friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00P.M. at Snows, and may be contacted
at the residence, 5999 Falcon Way, Lizella, GA. -Mr. Sams was born in Roberta,
the son of the late Joseph Thomas and Josie Myrick Sams. He was a Carpenter with
Jones and Harris Construction Company. He was a member of Fellowship Primitive
Baptist Church. -Survivors include four sons: Joe Sams, Morgan Sams, and Terry
Sams, all of Lizella, Ga., and Lynn Sams of Macon; three daughters: Betty Ryals
and Wilma Hensley, both of Lizella, and Marie Melton of Macon; 14 grandchildren,
18 great-grand-children, three sisters: Evelyn Teats and Eloise Adamar, both of
Macon, and Marie Holmes of Dublin; two brothers: L.C. Myrick of Macon and Clyde
Myrick of Roberta. -Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue has charge of
arrangements.
