Brickie, Louella S.
70, of 7404 McCook Cirice died Wednesday, Nov. 8. A native of Floyd
County, Mrs. Brickie lived in Lizella for three
and a half months, moving from Fitzgerald. She was a retired beautician and
nurse and a member of St. Peters Methodist Church in Fitzgerald. Survivors
include a daughter, Clydean B. Cosper of Lizella; three grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 10 in Macon
Memorial Park. Crest Lawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Dent, Dorothy Victoria
68, of 609 E. 30th Ave. died Friday, Nov. 24 in a local hospital. A
native of Crawford County, Mrs. Dent was a homemaker and a member of Third
Street Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Survivors
include her husband, John J. Dent of Cordele; two daughters, Ellen Wills of
Albany and Sheila Reynolds of Cordele; three sons, Tony Dent of Douglasville and
John Dent and Kenny Dent, both of Cordele; a brother, E. Holt Smith of Macon; a
sister,
Elizabeth Jordan of Charlotte, N.C.; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral
services were held Sunday, Nov. 26 in Third Street Baptist Church in Cordele.
Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele. The Revs. Cliff French and Martin
Wedge officiated. Hughes and Wright Funeral Home in Cordele was in charge
of arrangements.
Dugger, Clotee Waymon
74, of Georgia 128 died Sunday, Nov. 19 in a Macon hospital. A native
of Taylor County, Mrs. Dugger was a member of Little Union CME Church in
Reynolds, the mother board, the stewardess board and a ward captain. She was a
member of the Bentley's Floral Club and the Mutual Aid Society. She was the
daughter of the late J.C. and Louise Waymon and was the widow of the Benjamin
Dugger Sr. Survivors include nine daughters, Rosa Mae Carmichael of
Atlanta, Anna Bell Troutman, Ruby Robinson, Lillian Dugger, Oilie Ann Dugger,
Ophelia Howell and Denise Thomas, all of Reynolds, Willa Blasingame of Roberta
and Doris Lockhart of Louisville, Ky.; two sons, Wilbur Dugger and Benjamin
Dugger Jr., both of Reynolds; 31 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 25 in Mount Gillard Baptist Church in
Reynolds. Burial was in Foster Place Cemetery in Reynolds. The Revs. D. Huff Jr.
and C. L. Perdue officiated. Bentley's Funeral Home in Reynolds was in
charge of arrangements.
Hicks, Robert Jean
36, died Saturday, Nov. 18 in a Macon hospital. A native of Crawford
County, Mr. Hicks was an employee of
Macon College in the plant operations department. Survivors include his
wife, Wanda Lee Hicks of Musella; a
daughter, Kimbrely Denise Jordan of Musella; a son, Pemell Orlando Jordan of
Musella; his parents, John Wesley Sr. and Hade Mae Hicks, both of Musella; five
sisters, Katheryn Jones of Detroit, Doris Lackey of Roberta, Margaret James,
Betty Singleton and Virginia Singleton, all of Musella; and eight brothers,
Willie B. Hicks and James Otis Hicks, both of Detroit. Charleston Hick's of
Roberta, John Wesley Hicks Jr., Waller Hicks, Edgar L. Hicks, Eiton Hicks
and Jimmy Lee Colbert, all of Musella. Services were held on Wednesday,
Nov. 22 in Pleasant Grove AME Church. Burial was in Webb Cemetery The Revs.
Charles Palm and C. L. Jackson officiated. Hicks and Sons Funeral Home in
Roberta had charge of arrangements.
Kendall, Kathy Ann
42, of Choctaw Lane died Saturday, Nov. 11 from injuries sustained in an
automobile accident. A native of Dodge County, Mrs. Kendall lived in Byron
most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Green Acres Baptist
Church. Survivors include two sons, Keith Kendall of Byron and Daniel
Bozeman of Moultrie; two brothers, Calvin Mullis of Centerville and Wayne Mullis
of Warner Robins; and her mother, Mae Thompson Daniels of Byron. Funeral
services were held Tuesday, Nov. 14 in Christopher-Smith Funeral Home in Warner
Robins. Burial was in Magnolia
Park Cemetery in Warner Robins. The Rev. Larry Kirk officiated.
Kimber, Retired Lt. Col. Bruce
55, died Saturday, Nov. 18. A native of Spurgeon Bay, Wis., Mr. Kimber lived
in Lizella for the past 10 years. He served in Germany, Europe, Vietnam and the
Korean conflict. He retired with 34 years of military service and was a
commissioned officer for 24 years. He was a member of the Methodist faith, the
USAA, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors include his wife, Helen D. Kimber of Lizella; three sons, Mark Alien
Kimber of St. Simon's, John Patrick Kimber of Korea and Walter Lee Kimber of
Oscoda, Mich., two stepdaughters, Paula R. Lindale of Grand Rapids, Mich., and
Cherry L. Cherry of Macon; three brothers, James Kimber of Palm Bay, Fla.,
Kenneth Kimber of Gainesville, Fla., and Jerry Kimber of Spurgeon Bay; and a
grandchild. Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 21 in Glen Haven Memorial
Gardens with full military honors. Crest Lawn Funeral Home had charge of
arrangements.
Lighfoot, Dr. Moses Sr.
of 2970 Malibu Drive died Wednesday, Nov. 22 in a local nursing home.
A native of Peach County, Dr. Lightfoot lived in Macon most of his life. He was
the son of the late George B. and Lena Gibson Lightfoot. He was a member of
Grants Chapel AME Church, the Democratic Club and the Boy Scouts of America. He
was listed in Who's Who in Educators of Georgia. He was a graduate of Georgia
Baptist Junior College and received a bachelor's degree in education from
Savannah State College and a master's degree from Tuskegee Institute. He
attended Morris Brown College, Fort Valley
State College, Mercer University and Georgia State College in Atlanta and
received an honorary doctorate from the Union Baptist Seminary in Birmingham,
Ala. Dr. Lightfoot was a former editor of the colored section of the Macon
Telegraph in 1949 and district manager of the Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance
Co. He was a teacher in Roberta and principal of the Flint River Farms
Elementary School in Montezuma, the Lee County Training School in Leesburg and
the Lee County Elementary School which he retired from in 1977. Survivors
include his wife, Carrie Lightfoot of Macon; a daughter, Agnes Fletcher of
Buffalo, N.Y.; four sons. Dr. James Lightfoot of Pittsburgh, Moses Lightfoot
Jr., Willie B. Lightfoot and Issac G. Lightfoot, all of Macon; three sisters,
Lovette L. Fluellen of Jersey City, N.J., Anna L. Lumpkin and Ruth L. Thompson,
both of Fort Valley; three brothers, Ulysees Lightfoot of Chicago, George B.
Lightfoot of Griffin and Emory Lightfoot Sr. of Fort Valley; eight grandchildren
and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 27 in
Alien Chapel AME Church. Burial was in Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. Rev.
A. E. English officiated. Eastlawn Memorial Chapel was in charge of
arrangements.
Maynard, Angeline Van
of 2126 Cedar Ave. died Saturday, Nov. 18 in a local hospital. A
native of Lizella, Miss Maynard was the daughter of the late Van and Molley
Maynard. She was a member of Damascus CME Church and St. Luke AME Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Gussie DeVeaux of New York and Ludie Williams of
Philadelphia. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 22 in Damascus
Church Cemetery, Lizella. The Rev. Benjamin Ridley officiated. Thomas
Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Patt, Einora
83, died Saturday, Nov. 11 in a local hospital. Arrangements will be
announced by Bentley Funeral Home in Roberta. The family may be contacted
at the residence of Howard Jordan, Rt. 1, Highway 80, Lizella.
Pierce, Romie Orice
66, of 3558 Log Cabin Drive died Monday, Nov. 6. A native of
Knoxville, Mr. Pierce lived in Macon for most of his
life and was a retired salesman for the Corbin Supply Company. He was a member
and deacon of Bellevue Baptist Church. He was a member of Friendship Sunday
school class, the brotherhood and the veterans of foreign wars post 658. He was
a former Sunday school teacher of the boy's class and was a world war II army
veteran. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 8 in Macon Memorial
Park. The Revs. Hubert L. Hollis and Neal Wall officiated. Snow's Memorial
Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Rumph, Leroy
57, of 300 Chestnut Street died Thursday, Nov. 9 at his residence. A
native of Fort Valley, Mr. Rumph was an employee of Atlanta Sand Pit in Roberta
and a retired employee of Evans Warehouse in Fort Valley. He was a member of
Central Union Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Brenda
Mae Rumph and Vannessa Anne Rumph, both of Roberta and Leslie Rumph of Macon;
his mother, Annie Kate Rumph of Fort Valley; two brothers, David
Lee Rumph of Fort Valley and Robert Louis Rumph of Warner Robins; and three
sisters, Geraldine Cliett, Annie Jean Rumph and Annie Kate Rumph, all of Fort
Valley. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 14 in Shiloh Baptist
Church in Fort Valley. Burial was in Willowlake Memorial Gardens in Fort Valley.
The Rev. Morris Hillsman officiated. Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Valley
was in charge of arrangements.
Wiggins, Eula Lee
75, of 83 Cabiness Road died Sunday, Nov. 26 in a local nursing home.
A native of Crawford County, Miss Wiggins was the daughter of the late Charlie
and Mamie Lindsey Wiggins. She was a homemaker and. member of New Harvest Church
of God. Survivors include four sisters, Mary W. Wilson and Sarah Wilson,
both of Forsyth, Velma Young of Rex and Irene Corbin of Jacksonville, Fla.; and
three brothers, Charlie Wiggins of Quitman, James C. Wiggins of Thomaston and
Dorsey Wiggins of Bartow, Fla. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov.
29 in Andrew A.
Dillon and Son Funeral Home. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Quitman. The Rev.
Bruce Edwards officiated.
