Banks, Obie Jr., 42, of Gunner Road died Saturday, Oct. 28 at his residence. A native of Crawford County, Mr. Banks was an employee of Hutto Farms and Gunners Sawmill Company and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Ella Banks Williams of Fort Valley; a stepfather. Bill Williams of Fort Valley; four brothers, Willie James Banks and LeRoy Banks, both of Fort Valley, Eddie Banks of Warner Robins and Jessie Banks of Roberta; and a sister, Yvonne Banks of Fort Valley. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 31 in Hicks and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Bessie Small officiated. Burial was in Shiloah Cemetery.
Bentley, Daniel, 25, formerly of Roberta died Thursday, Oct. 26 in Detroit. Arrangements will be announced by Hicks and Sons Funeral Home in Roberta.
Burnette, Evelyn Horton, 82, of 801 Elberta Road died
Monday, Oct. 16 in a local nursing home. A native of Greenville, Tenn.,
Mrs. Burnette lived in Warner Robins for the past 47 years and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and the OAC senior citizens
center. Survivors include a daughter, Lynne Taylor of Warner Robins;
two brothers, Vernon Horton and Rex Horton, both of Knoxville; and two
grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 17 in McCullough
Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Scoggins officiated. Burial was in Lynnhurst
Cemetery, Knoxville, Tenn.
Duckworth, Rev. Earl Bailey, 84, of 406 Story Road died Wednesday, Oct.
11 in a local hospital. A native of Emanuel County, the Rev. Duckworth
lived in Warner Robins for the past 26 years. He was the son of the late Henry
C.
and Mary J. Duckworth. He was a charter member and retired minister of First
Freewill Baptist Church. He was a retired civil service employee of Robins Air
Force Base. Survivors include his wife, Nannie L. Duckworth of Warner
Robins; five daughters, Kathlyn Bullock of Hianes City, Fla., Vivian Farmer of
Sylvania, Nell Fordham of Byron and Evelyn Collins
and Sandra McLemore, both of Warner Robins; two sons, Emory Duckworth Sr. of
Monroe County and Bernard Duckworth of Musella; a brother, John Edward Duckworth
of Metter; four sisters, Vashte Cliett of Davenport, Fla., Frances Gill of
Winter Haven, Fla. and Rebecca Van Dyke and Gladys Duckworth, both of Vidalia;
17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held
Saturday, Oct. 14 in First Freewill Baptist Church in Warner Robins. The Revs.
Leroy Lafferty Sr., Leroy Lafferty Jr. and James E. Bryant officiated. Burial
was in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon.
Hammock, Henry Wyatt "Pap", 92, of 1681 Randall Road died Sunday, Oct. 15
in a local hospital. A native of Crawford County, Mr. Hammock lived in
Macon most of his life and was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the
Baptist faith and a World War I Army veteran. Survivors include a son, H.
Wyatt Hammock Jr. of Charleston, S. C.; a daughter, Mary Cobb of Macon; four
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held
Tuesday, Oct. 17 in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Milton D. Adams officiated.
Jenkins, Jackson Melvin Sr., 81, formerly of Warner Robins died Wednesday, Oct. 25 in Green Valley. A native of Sumter, S.C., Mr. Jenkins lived in Green Valley since 1978, moving from Warner Robins. He was a retired electronics calibrator for Robins Air Force Base. He was a World War 11 Army Veteran and a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy J. Southerland of Macon; four sons, Frank M. Jenkins of Roberta, Jackson M. Jenkins Jr. of Sahuarita, Ariz., Charles E. Jenkins of Tucson, Ariz. and Alvin D. Jenkins of Gilbert, Ariz.; a sister, Frances J. Brown of Hemingway, S.C.; a brother, John Jenkins of Florida; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 29 in Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins. The Rev. Jimmy Woods officiated.
Matthews, Robert F., 62, of 5012 Dixon Road, Lizella died Sunday, Oct. 15 in a Dublin hospital. A native of Putnam County, Mr. Matthews lived in Macon for the past year. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a residential carpet installer and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Ernestine M. Howard of Lizella and Josie Mae Brady of Tennille; and a brother, C. L. Matthews of Tennille. Funeral services were private. The Rev. Franklin Etheridge officiated. Hart's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Moncrief, Isaac H., 88, of 6271 Yatesville Road died Wednesday, Oct. 11 in a local hospital. A native of Crawford County, Mr. Moncrief lived in Upson County for the past 45 years and was a farmer. He was a maintenance employee in the Yatesville schools and was a member of the Yatesville United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ross of Meansville and Marjorie Bishop of Barnesville; five sons, James Moncrief of Thomaston, Ed Moncrief and Clifford Moncrief, both of Yatesville, Clay Moncrief and Angus Moncrief, both of Macon; four sisters, Doris Andrews of Roberta, Liza Vinson of Yatesville, Ruby Canoil of Butler and Eunice Pritchett of Thomaston; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 13 in Yatesville United Methodist Church. The Revs. James Thompson and Steve Maguire officiated. Burial was in New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Thomas, Augustus, 89, died Wednesday, Oct. 4 in a local
hospital. A native of Crawford County, Mr. Thomas lived in Camden for the
past 45 years. He was a member of the Church of God and Saints of Christ Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kattie Thomas of Camden; a daughter, Salome
Drommound of Trenton, N.J.; four sons, Hezzie Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, Franklin
Thomas and Richard Thomas, all of Camden; 26 grandchildren, 45
great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 13 in
the Thomas Family Cemetery, Crawford County. Mr. Earnest Habersham officiated.
Habersham Funeral Home in Fort Valley was in charge of arrangements.
Warren, Vickie A., 83, of 2965 Nisbet Drive died Friday, Oct. 27 in a
local hospital. A native of Crawford County, Mrs. Warren lived in Macon
most of her life. Survivors include a daughter, Minnie Lee Ladson of
Macon; six
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held
Monday, Oct. 30 in Snow's Pio Nono Chapel. The Rev. Y. Z. Gordy officiated.
Burial was in Macon Memorial Park.
