Harris, Zachary Taylor
Zachary Taylor Harris was my great great uncle.  He was my grandmother, Lillian Rozine Harris' uncle.  I have a piece of the marble that was on the hotel desk and it now is on the top of my oak dresser. (Extracted from: Dozens of Cousens) Zachary and Georgia Anna, lived in the Addison Elisha Harris Sr. house about four miles north of Roberta, from October 12, 1869 until 1879, when they moved to the Stephen Wright house in Knoxville, and began to operate the Stage Coach Inn.  A few years later, they took the old Knoxville Inn, formerly the Troutman Inn on the old stage road between Macon and Columbus, operating the Harris Hotel and stables from 1879 until 1905, when they moved to Roberta.  After renting the hotel for several years, he sold it to John C. Sawyer, who operated the hotel until it burned February 18, 1924.  Listed in CSA: "Co. A 5 Ga. Regt. Confederate States Army" Listed as Zachariah T. Harris on the 1880 census.

This photograph (original) is in my grandfather's (Jonathan Earl RUCKS, Sr. 1919-1999) personal photo album.  This was taken in Crawford County, Georgia around 1940 according to the back of the photo.  It is at Society Hill Cemetery at the HUDSON Family plot.  The woman pictured is Anise Delilah "Lila" BECHAM HUDSON (21 Feb 1861-24 May 1954).  She was the daughter of John BECHAM & Caroline JOHNSON BECHAM who are both buried at Old Bethel in Crawford County.  "Lila" was the wife of James Russell "Ruffin" HUDSON (19 April 1857-27 Oct 1939).  The upright marker shown in the picture belongs to my great grandmother (Lila & Ruffin's daughter) Corrye Dalton HUDSON RUCKS (21 March 1898-2 Nov 1926).  Lila is now buried exactly where she is standing in the photo, to the left side of Corrye.  Ruffin is buried to Corrye's right side.  On this day Lila was visiting the graves of her husband Ruffin, her daughter Corrye and also the graves of several of her other children.  Those children are (GRAVES ARE UNMARKED): John Lee "Johnny" HUDSON (16 July 1892-10 Jan 1912), Infant HUDSON (1893-1893), Ivy HUDSON (16 June 1900-1911), James "Jimmy" HUDSON (1896-1900) and TWINS HUDSON (1897-1897).

Hudson, James Clinton
Clinton was an only child and the beloved son of Cawley Clinton Hudson & Bertha Mae Aultman Hudson. He is buried between his parents with his father to his right and his mother to his left.
During Clinton's four day hospital stay, Clinton's father would drive from their home in Lizella to visit Clinton between farm chores. On the night of Clinton's death his father drove to the hospital as usual and then was heard shortly coming down the road towards the house. His mother, grandparents, first cousin and aunt could all hear the car coming and knew something was wrong. As his father neared the house he ran his car into a dirt bank and fell out wailing with grief. He was saying, "He's gone Bertha. He's gone". Clinton died from pneumonia according to his death certificate. Clinton's grandfather James Russell "Ruffin" Hudson tried to console Clinton's father Cawley by saying, "We have lost several of our children Cawley. You will get over it." Cawley's reply was, "But we only had one." Clinton and his father's sister Corrye's only son/child, Jonathan Earl Rucks were best of friends. After Clinton's death Earl became even more important in their lives. Clinton entered the hospital 4 July 1935. Earl died 4 July 1999. Clinton died 8 July 1935.
Earl was buried 9 July 1999. Clinton was buried 10 July 1935. Clinton died on a Monday at 14 years 275 days old. Earl died on a Sunday at 79 years 282 days old.
