Hannon
I am searching for the HANNON family in Crawford
County. My grgrgr grandfather HENRY HANNON 1756 -1835 moved from Warren
County to Crawford around 1830 and is supposed to be buried near Knoxville.
His son John Henry Hannon was apparently already living in Crawford prior to
1830. He was married to Elizabeth Wright. John Henry was an attorney and
farmer. They had 13 children: John Stith, Elliott Cromwell, Mary Ann
Elizabeth, Eliza Stith (m. Isaiah Davis of Crawford Cty); Martha P. Randolph
(m. James Greene of Crawford Cty), Frances Ardelia m. James Harris; James
Henry (my gr. grandfather m. Amanda Newsom (Taylor County), Caroline Matilda
m. Hugh Green, William Henry; Moses Wright; Julia Pauline and Joseph. My
gr. grandfather James Henry reportedly operated a grist mill in Taylor
County. During the gold rush he and brothers Moses Wright and Joseph went to
California and remained there for 8 years. James Henry's son Walter (my
grandfather) was born in Taylor County. Henry Hannon died there in 1835 and
John Henry died in 1843. Somewhere between 1835 and 1850 James Henry moved
his family to Worth County where he and Amanda are buried.
