Letter from Cawley Clinton HUDSON (1895-1974) to Bertha Mae AULTMAN
(1894-1974)
Dear girl:
I will write you as I promest, and wonder if my little girl wants to hear from
me.
Dear I have told you a thousand times how much I love you it seems that I love
you more every day.
I sure want to see you for it seems like it has been a year since I saw you.
You said I couldn't come when I want to. I am glad you did for if I were to
come when I want to I would come every day. I sure did have a lonesome ride
Sunday night but was at home and asleep at 10 oclock.
Dear be a good girl and try to love me always. I know everybody is talking to
you about me, but dear if I live I am going to try to make you happy that is
all that I can do.
I will close write soon and all the news to yours
Cawley C.
P.S. Tell Claud to get that plow for me as soon as he can.
Letter is dated Oct. 1919, not long after Cawley returned from WWI.
Cawley and Bertha were married 6 December 1919 ending in Bertha's death on 14
Jan 1974. Cawley committed suicide on 11 Feb 1974. Cawley & Bertha lost
