This was written from my great, great grandmother Anise Delilah "Lila"
BECHAM HUDSON (1861-1954) to her son Cawley Clinton HUDSON
(1895/1896?-1974). At the time Cawley's wife Bertha Mae AULTMAN HUDSON
(1894-1974) & Cawley's & Bertha's son James Clinton HUDSON (1920-1935) were
staying behind in Bibb & Crawford Counties with both of their families
while Cawley was working down in Dania, Broward County, Florida. Cawley's
sister, Corrye Dalton HUDSON RUCKS (1898-1926) was my great grandmother.
Lila would write to Corrye more than Cawley and he would be jealous! During
this time Cawley also had his sister Alma Estelle HUDSON SMITH (1888-1975),
his brother Emery Grady HUDSON (1891-?) and their families down in Dania.
This is who Lila is refering to.
Lila & eight of her children are buried at Society Hill Cemetery in Crawford
County. By the time Lila died at 93 years, 2 months, and 2 days her
only known living children were Cawley & Alma. Her son Grady caught a train
one day and was never heard from again. Her children Corrye, Jimmy,
Johnnie, Ivy, the twins and the baby all died before her, several of them in
tragic accidents. Cawley & Bertha's only child Clinton died from pneumonia
in 1935.
A big thanks goes out to
Carolina Rucks
