I happened to come across your photo album of Roberta Georgia. When I was a
kid we lived in Atlanta Georgia and drove to Florida three times a year to
see my grandparents in Sarasota from 1963 to 1974. I vaguely remember
driving US 341 to Perry where we caught I-75. It was an adventure and there
were lots of billboards, roadside fruit stands, and tourist stops. I loved
it, even though I was very young at the time and my father hated all the
slow moving traffic. I entered high school in 1971 and by then we were
taking I-75 all the way down from Atlanta. Did any of the tourist stops
survive being bypassed by I-75 and do tourists still use US 341 at all? I
did that drive in the late 1970s when I was in college and it brought back
lots of memories but I remember being sorry to see all the abandoned
buildings along 341. However, I do remember Rigdon's Pecan Station between
Fort Valley and Perry as being a stop for us as kids and Swint's Pecan
Station in Barnesville being a stop. Anyway, sure enjoyed your site.
