Dent – Reeves
The marriage of Miss Marie Dent and Mr. Henry Reeves was a genuine surprise to their many friends of this community. The nuptial knot was tied Sunday
afternoon at 4 o’clock in Taylor County. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. T.B. White, and the most refined young lady of this county and has won herself
many friends and admirers. Mr. Reeves is a prominent young farmer, and by all who know him is considered one of the most honorable, upright,
accommodating young men in this community. Both the bride and groom being so well and favorably known, numerous are the congratulations extended them.

I believe Marie Dent was the daughter of
Jesse F. Dent and Mary A. "Mamie" Miller. Jesse and Mamie married in
December 1891 (Crawford County) then later divorced and in 1897 were in
the process of having a court decide the custody of Marie Dent, then a
minor. This is all according to original documents I found at the Georgia
Archives. By 1910, Jesse F. Dent died as he is not listed in the census
for that year and the census for his mother, Sarah "Sallie" Bazemore Dent
(widow of Wesley Hoy Dent) indicates only one of her three children was
still living. The one child still living in 1910 was James "Jim" Dent
(1872-1935), the youngest child of Wesley & Sallie B. Dent. Marie Dent was the only grandchild of Wesley
Hoy Dent (1849-1895) and Sarah Bazemore Dent (1846-1927), as far as I have
found to date. Wesley & Sallie are buried at Salem Primitive Baptist
Church, Crawford County. Jesse F. Dent was the Coroner of Crawford
County 1896-97 and his father before him, Wesley H. Dent, was a prosperous
business owner of Roberta/Crawford County who at one time ran a Mercantile
Store and a Livery. *****Submitted by Cheryl Aultman←
