A p.143 Transcribed by: Wanda Metcalf Mills ronwon@alltel.net State of Georgia We Lott Long, Alfred Willis, Decatur County and Jesse Glover Were present on the 11th day of September 1857 at the residence of Shadrack J. Long married man. Before and at the time of his death in Perfect possession of his mental faculties he called upon us to Remember and take notice of what he was about to say, that it had been His intention to make his will in writing and dispose of his property Some time before but as it was not convenient for him to do so at that Time he now wishes us to understand that that his will and desire was that All of his property should remain as it was, except enough to pay off Debts and that his wife Elpha Long should sell such property as she could best do without and raise money enough to pay all of his debts And that if his wife could not get along with his negro woman-______ He wanted her to sell said negro woman and also he wished at the time Of his son Franklin Long shall come of age that all of his children Should have an equal share of all the remaining property and also that he wished for his wife Elpha Long to have full control of all his Estate and called on Jesse Glover to befriend his wife in carrying His will into effect and to befriend her all he could in so doing Immediately after which he died. September 14, 1857 Lott Long Jessee x Glover Alfred x Willis Georgia Court of Ordinary Oct Decatur County adjourning term 1857 Tuesday Oct 6, 1857 In person appeared in open court, Lott Long, Jessee Glover, and Alfred Willis who being duly sworn say that this paper contains the last Request and verbal disposition of the property of Shadrack J. Long, late of said county Decatur and is just and true in all its parts Sworn to and subscribed before Jesse x Glover Me in open court this Oct 6 1857 Alfred x Willis Lott Long Georgia I Elpha Long do solemnly swear that Decatur County this paper contains the true last ______ will of Shadrack J. Long deceased as far as I know or believe and that I will well and truly execute the same by paying just debts and then the legacies contained in the said will as far as his goods and chattels will there unto extend and ____ I am charge me and that I will make a true and proper inventory of all such goods and chattels So help me God. Sworn to and subscribed Before me in open court Oct. 6 1857 Elpha x Long Georgia Court of Ordinary Oct Decatur County adjourned first Tuesday Oct. 6, 1857 The ____ Will of Shadrack J. Long late of said county, deceased Having been _____ at the time of the open court for probate and the Same having been ___ on the oath of Lott Long, Jesse Glover, and Alford Willis.
