I am looking for information on the HORNING family or families
that lived in the Effingham and Chatham County areas. I am
specifically looking for a list of children of Phillip and
Gracy(WEITMAN) HORNING. They were married Jun 1825 and Gracy died
between 1840 and 1845. I know that they had a son named Phillip
but according to the 1830 and 1840 census they had 4 sons and a
daughter. I believe their daughter may have been Sophia Lucretia
HORNING but I have no proof and that is what I am looking for.
Phillip was also married to Deborah CARTER March 27 1845. They had
5 children according to the 1850 and 1860 census. I would
appreciate any information on any HORNINGs from GA or SC. I am
trying to piece together how they are all related.

I am looking for any information about parents or siblings of
Jesse DAVIS born 1799-1800 in South Carolina. He married
Margaret METZGER in Effingham County on Jan. 28, 1828. They had
a family and farm in Effingham. They moved to Alachua County,
Florida about Sept.-December 1850. My theory is that Jesse is
from across the Savannah River. Jesse had a lot of business
dealings in Effingham County and is listed in the courthouse
several times but nothing that gives me a clue to his parents or
siblings. Jesse died in Alachua County Feb. 13, 1857

I don't know anything about my fathers side. He died
quite a while ago and never spoke about his family.
My g-grandfather was Alonza H. Zeigler who lived and
died in Oliver, GA. He was a prominent school
teacher and was a direct descendant of the Georgia
Salzburgers who came over in 1734 or 1736. I found
that out last week when I came across his obituary.
Alonza's father was John Zeigler. I don't know his
middle name or his wife's name. Alonza had a
brother, first initial was H. Zeigler. I'm guessing
they were very private people for I have no pictures
or any memoribilia. I would appreciate any

Hinely Searching for John
I. HINELY. I think he was killed
at Kennesaw Mtn (Civil War)
meaning there will be no death
info in the Eff Co Rcds. There
is a book being updated "Ga
Salzburgers and Related
Families" that shows early
HINELY (HEINLE) info but not my
HINELY. His children are listed
in various Eff Co Rcds but
little on him (John Israel?
HINELY). The 1830 census
mentions Israel, John, and
Solomon. However, John was the
name of the orginal Salzburger
(Johann HEINLE, 1750 came to
Ebenezer in what is now Eff Co)
and many HINELYS are named John,
so MY John I. HINELY could be
the "John" or the "Israel" or
even an unlisted Hinely since
the records were not very
accurate. I know all the data
from 1865 on and can peice
together the early 1750-80 or
so, but need clarification and
support evidence.
