Researching WOOLF/WOLFE family in Effingham County. IRVIN L. WOLFE who married Rebecca E. METZGER on April 4, 1852.They can be referenced in GEORGIA SALZBURGER AND THEIR ALLIED FAMILIES as well as local records. They had three children: George Lanier Wolfe Louise Victoria Ida Frances. I am trying to idenify this Irvin L. Wolfe, as I believe through my other research, that he may have been the son of GEORGE WOOLFE WHO DIED IN EFFINGHAM IN LATE 1827. This older George Woolf left a will stating that his sons were John, Harmon, and a minor son IRVIN. In 1828 Irvings older brother John was chosen as the guardian of this minor son IRVIN. Could this family be one and the same? Family histories, and land platts tell us that the Woolfe and Laniers lived very near, if not next door to one another. Thus the middle name LANIER may well have be given to this son George! If any Metzer researcher, or descendant has information that would futher my knowledge of this Woolfe line, I could greatly appreciate your input.
