The war between the States proved a tragicexperience for almost every Emanuel Countian perhaps James Herrington and hiswife Dicy suffered most of all They sentnine sons off the fight the Yankees and never saw one of them again and thebodies of two others was returned home from the battlefield for burial in theHerrington Family Cemetery.
Son of Ephriam Herrington, American Revolutionary soldierwho was with Washington when Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, James hadlived all his life on the Herrington plantation near Nunez, on ground still inpossession of the Herrington family. James had married Dicy Moore and she hadgiven him twelve sons, by the time the southern forces fired on "

The many friends in Swainsboro and Emanuel Countyof Mrs. Annie Lee Herrington, wife of the late Judge Alfred Herrington, Sr.will be grieved to hear of her death which occurred in Jacksonville, Fla.,Friday evening, November 05 at 11:25 o'clock. She was 89 years of age and her death followed a stroke which kept herlingering for about four weeks in a Jacksonville Hospital.
She is survived by three of her own sons, Patrickof Little Rock, Arkansas, Morris of Miami, and Roger of Jacksonville, and onestep-son, Judge Alfred Herrington, Jr. of Swainsboro; also severalgrandchildren and great grandchildren.
Following the death of her late husband, JudgeAlfred Herrington, she moved to Florida where she could be with her sons andremained there for twenty-five years, living at Dinsmore, Fla at the time ofher death.
Her body was taken to Miami for burial and was laidto rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park on Monday, November 17th, alongside thegraves of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Blount (Marion)Robertson.

Little Rock, Ark. Patrick C. Herrington 81, of 518 North Oak Street died Wednesday, Dec.13 at his home. He was born inSwainsboro and a graduate of North Georgia College and Mercer University atMacon. A retired Lawyer, Mr. Herringtonwas a member of the Scimitar Shrine, the Appela Club, and Sigma Nu Fraternityand was a former member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a past president of the Arkansas Association of retired Personsand V. P. General of the Sons of the American revolution.
Mr. Herrington is survived by his wife, Mrs. OpalHerrington of Little Rock; a daughter, Mrs Patricia Ellington of Little Rockand a brother, Morriss Herrington of Miami.
Funeral services were held Friday at 10 am at Haley& Roth Mortuary with the Rev. David Conyers officiating.
