Mark Phillips, Sr. Elizabeth Bush

Mark Phillips, Sr. was born in North Carolina where he married Elizabeth Bush, daughter of John Bush, b. 1680-90, and Mary Bryan, b. 1680-90. John Bush was the son of William Bush, b. 1645, d. 1716 and Martha ? Mary Bryan was the daughter of William Bryan, b. 1655-60, d. 1742, and Alice Macland, b. 1655-60. The Bush and Bryan families were from Isle of Wight County, Virginia.
Mark Phillips, Sr. moved to Effingham County, Georgia and appears there in 1782. He later appears in Burke County and then in Montgomery County by 1801. His brother, Joseph Phillips, Sr., appears in Washington County, Georgia in 1784 and is in Montgomery County in 1801.
Mark Phillips, Sr. was a Revolutionary War soldier in the Light Dragoons from Georgia. The DAR has marked his grave in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Treutlen County, Georgia. He left a will in Montgomery County, Georgia. Abraham Phillips and Ephrim Phillips were appointed appraisers of the estate.

Royal Budd Phillips Kisire Gillis

Royal Budd Phillips first appears in Effingham County, Georgia with his father, where he received a land grant. He drew in the 1805 land lottery from Montgomery County, Georgia, and was elected Captain of the 54th G. M. District, August 6, 1812. He was named in his father's will in 1810. He was in the 1820 and 1830 censuses of Emanuel County, Georgia, where he was living at the time of his death. Kisire Phillips remained in Emanuel County, Georgia until her death.

Sherrod Phillips Nancy Willis

Nancy Willis was the daughter of Ephrim Willis, Sr. Sherrod Phillips lived in Emanuel and Montgomery Counties and is found in the 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses. In 1860 Sherrod was listed as a farmer with $3619 value of real estate. He was elected Lieutenant in Emanuel County, Georgia June 7, 1820 through May 16, 1823.

Ephrim H. Phillips Millie Moore

m. February 17, 1857. Ephrim H. Phillips and Millie are found in the 1860 and 1870 censuses of Emanuel County, Georgia. In 1860 they lived with his father, Sherrod. In 1880 Millie was a widow in the 54th District of Emanuel County, Georgia. They were married in Montgomery County, Georgia, recorded in Marriage Book B, page 150 (no date given). In a series of letters written in 1874-75, Rev. G. W. Smith reported on his evangelistic efforts in Emanuel County. He started his circuit on Monday, May 28th and on "Sabbath evening at 8 o'clock, we came to Mr. Ephraim Phillips, Emanuel County, where we were welcomed for the night."
