No direction having been given with regard to these Returns of the Lodges, as required to be made at the last Grand Communication, of such of their members, as have or still are serving in the army of the Confederate States, respecting their publication, I have thought proper to embody their contents in the General Returns in the following manner:

To place opposite the name of each who has been, or now is, in the army, the letter A; killed, K; wounded, W; died in, or after being in service, D. A few Lodges have failed to make this Return, probably from not having noticed the Resolution of this Return, probably from not having noticed the Resolution of the Grand Lodge; others have made it imperfectly, so that I may not have been able to understand it, and have copied it incorrectly.
